What are some of your impressions of Seattle's Earl Watson and Damian Wilkins?

Both expire in 2010. We need veteran back-ups at pg and wing.

They combine for $9.3mm and we have the assets to get them. I don't see Seattle wanting to keep them at this stage of the rebuilding.
I also see Seatle trying to save some money since I doubt they get much fan support with an ugly move pending.

I thought they both played pretty solid defense and had decent shots, but am not overly familiar with them.

Thoughts?
 
i really dont want earl... id rather go after a pargo who can hit open shots and create his own shot! and back up 2/3 would be a maurice evans.

not a fan of watson... but even if you like him whats the pricetag? i dont think they'd want swift.

Why?? what do you know about him. The purpose of the thread was to seek opinions from people that have seen those guys play.

I would think they would want to cut some of that $9.3mm a year for the next 2 years. Maybe KVH and Hassell. Gives them an instant savings of about $4mm this season and $5mm next season. Maybe even Swift. His expiring could look pretty good to them.

Why aren't you a fan of Watson? Work with me people... looking for some scouting reports here.
 
Seattle is supposedly looking to get rid of Ridnour first, then probably Watson although he did seem to have a real nice season under PJ last year.

What about Ridnour?? He makes the same as Watson and also expires in 2010.

Haven't seen a lot of him. I know he's fallen off from the high expectations. Would he make a decent back-up?

from the games i have seen earl play and him at ucla... he cant really hit an open 3... and he doesnt distribute the ball fast enough... like he holds the ball 1 second too late...

i was just sayin id rather go after pargo who is quick and can create his own shot and shots for others... and now that we have Yi and ryan anderson we have 3's and 4's that can hit the 18-20ft "open" jumpers...

just hoping lopez becomes that banger we desperately need

I don't see New Orleans letting Pargo go. He's the perfect back-up for CP3.
 
I like Watson. He can defend and he can shoot the three. He won't blow anyone away, but he would be a damn good backup to Harris

The numbers don't agree with you

He shot .371 from 3 last season and is a career .346 shooter from 3

do they have the money?!?! pargo made 1.8 million last season and i kno he wants a pay raise. cp3 is in rookie contract so i dont see em offerin a lot for pargo, only reason pargo stays in NO is if he feels thats the best situation for him (and as far as his career he found his niche` in NO... )

does NO wana hit the luxury tax line?!?!

maybe its just me then... cuz when i saw him esp with seattle gettin nationally televised games cuz of durant, he didnt nothin special... like when i look at back up pg's i want like a bobby jackson when he was in SAC playin behind a young mike bibby

They are way below the luxury tax line (at about $60mm in payroll, luxury tax around $68mm). Pargo will not get a starters job elsewhere so why not stay where he's at?

I don't see Thorn throwing more money at Pargo than NO is willing to pay. I think they realize that without an adequate back-up they will burn Paul out. He's a solid investment to help protect Paul. They'll probably lock him up for around $3-4mm.

If the Sonics need to clear salary (and that's a possibility since they are looking to move), something like Marcus Williams + KVH for Watson might be the basis for a deal.

I would hope the Nets get additional consideration for picking up the tab (that's how the Sonics landed those picks, so they'd understand). Sonics have the right to the Suns 2010 unprotected first round pick, and the Spurs 2009 first round pick.
 
Wilkins seems about on the level of Simmons to me, so I can take him or leave him.

Watson is a nice fit. Hes not the sexiest player, so I doubt they are getting a ton of offers, but I dont see why they dont accept Stromile Swift for him.


I kind of like Raymond Felton, but hes a much sexier player than Earl Watson and is much younger, so his price tag could be too steep



Pargo may get a pretty big offer from a team like Miami.
 
Weve been shopping Marcus since the season ended, clearly no ones into him, hes filler at this point. Im sure he will be traded, but no ones taking him and saying "Wow, what a nice young prospect we got". At this point, hes filler and a cheap roster spot.

I think we should at least try and get our 2nd round pick back from them(Mikki Moore) Since in any deal they would get instant relief and expiring deals and wed most likely take back 2 year deal(s)
 
Wilkins makes me think of Antoine Wright. I don't think I want him all that much.

Watson would be cool, but I doubt we'd be able to get him.

Id do that trade... but im not sure if the numbers work.
 
After the season Krstic came off of, the Bobcats will not accept this deal straight up.
 
How bout we offer M. Williams for Wilson Chandler of the Knicks? He showed a lot of skill last year. Possibly was the second best Knick last year to Crawford. He showed signs of all star skill and plays big. Hes a good rebounder and an underrated defender. Would be great and fill a hole for both teams. Think they will bite?
 
to be honset I think we could get jr smith in a sign and trade, or we could sing Pietrus he is a great defender and really has hustle and can hit the three or get out on the break, we need someone to replace RJ, and this guy could do it, he has been wanting to start somewhere to get PT..... what you think 2 yr for 7 mil over 3 year 10 mil and maybe duhoun for a back up point.
 
pietrus wants to be a starter... he isnt goin to be happy coming off the bench.. i think last year he wanted out of GSW for his role

Doubtful. Especially since the rumor is that NY is offering Lee for Felton. I think Charlotte would rather do that.

Duhon will get starters minutes somewhere. I could see Miami pursuing him.

I like Pietrus, but I don't see this team signing someone without trading away a guy like Hassell. Him and Simmons would be too much dead weight and they won't be able to unload Simmons.
