Trade Ideas & sh*t

If the Houston/NY trade ever gets off the ground the one team I could see taking Ryan Anderson is Orlando (one of the very worst 3 point shooting squads last year). It think it'd be worthwhile to give up Harkless/Leonard for Bismarck Biyombo personally. I fully acknowledge that he is vastly overpaid and a limited player, but I think this team could use his relentless energy (supercharged Ed Davis), he's supposed to be a great teammate, and he has the ability to really get under the opposing team's skin, which we could use. Also, he sets nasty screens. Overall, I'd just like us to keep a real physical guy out there when Nurk's on the bench.

Also, I think that he would provide some very helpful insurance with Nurkic with regard to injuries, fouls, and contract negotiations. Hard to justify paying a guy $17M who is going to sit on the bench for all but 18 mpg, but if it let Nurkic play with reckless abandon that'd be worth it IMO. I don't think it would be impossible for the two to play together in short stretches either as Biyombo can defend 4s (stretch or not) and Nurkic can play high post for a two man game.

that article gives an overview of what I think he could bring to our team.

Biyombo to Portland
Harkless/Leonard to NY Knicks
Carmelo to Houston
Ryan Anderson to Orlando (and a pick or something from Houston)

The other flawed piece that I think could be helpful for us is Iman Shumpert. He had a lot of value earlier in his career, and isn't being utilized in the iso heavy Cleveland offense at all. He's not a PG, but may be a much valuable player in Stotts' flow offense. We could use the defense/athleticism in our backcourt and he'd be an nice 3rd guard for us IMO.

Cleveland definitely looks to be making some moves and he's been rumored to be on the way out for a while. They could use more defenders with some size too. If we got someone like Biyombo then Aminu would surely be available. I would think Aminu/Napier for Shumpert may be a good fit for both teams, as Aminu could take the tougher defensive assignment away from Lebron and let him roam a little bit when they were on the floor together (unleashing Olympic defensive god Lebron).

If we made both of thus moves our rotation would look like this, and I think we'd add a whole lot of energy and athleticism:

Lillard
McCollum/Shumpert
Turner
Vonleh/Swanigan
Nurkic/Biyombo

Probably need to swap Ed for a 3, unless we believed in Connoughton and/or Layman.

I don't think Milwaukee would do it. They don't need Kyrie. Middleton and Parker are a lot to give up for a guy that would really be second banana to Giannis.
Yeah, but keep in mind 3 things:
1.) Brogdon is more of a 2 then a 1. Trading Middleton for Kyrie slides Brogdon to SG.
2.) Jabari Parker is very injury prone.
3.) It clears cap space for Cousins or Jordan.

Pending on picks Phoenix gets.

I think the only hold up for this trade would be Henson. I think Milwaukee would want to get rid of Monroe in this trade instead of Henson.
Does that stop the Cavs from doing it? idk.
Why? Monroe has 1 year, $17M remaining and Henson has 3 years, $33M remaining.

idk. It just seems like to me Milwaukee has had Monroe on the block since they signed him.
Only recently have I seen reports that Milwaukee/Henson want to part ways. But how true is it really for a valuable center/pf who is under a great contract for 3 more years.

Henson is overrated imo, and if MIL is aiming for a Kyrie/Giannis/Cousins big 3, they'll need to clear his salary.

He is not really valuable and that's why they never really counted on him. He was always on and off. He is just a good per36 guy but weak against tough competition. He is really soft. His only skill is his length and block timing which would be valuable if he was not terrible on off the ball defense.

Bartón had a down year last season but the year before he was robbed of the 6th man of the year award and looked like a 6'6" Patty Mills - a capable passer who scores in bunches. His numbers that year (15ppg/6rpg/2apg) are nothing to scoff at.

The trade idea was something to scoff at, though.

He might be overrated, but I'd still take him over any big on the Blazer roster last year not named Nurk.
Injury prone & A bench player with weaknesses. Yet he's still a shot blocking big who has shown the ability to perform in that role.
If he can get back to blocking nearly 2 shots a game off the bench, that's pretty damn good.

Who is Henson overrated by exactly? If anything he's underrated, or at least under utilized. He's tailor made for Portlands system. He can just sit back and protect the rim. He'd be a good backup to Nurkic.

I would like to have Barton back, but how much will he demand in FA next year?

I wonder if Olshey is still interested in Greg Monroe. He seems to have wanted him for a long time. He would not want to be our backup center, but could possibly start at PF till Collins develops. I personally don't really think he'd be a good fit.

It was leaked that Orlando has some interest Aminu. Portland really needs a decent backup center, and Vucevic was reportedly on the trade block last year.

Vucevic for Aminu and Davis works.

Our TPE from the Crabbe trade is also enough to get Vucevic, if ORL wanted to do a pure salary dump.

The ship may have sailed on Greg Monroe to POR. Too bad, he actually had a REALLY good season for MIL. Not sure why you think he wouldn't want to be our back up center. He accepted his role as 6th man in MIL and played really well at both ends of the court. He came in 6th in Sixth Man of the Year Voting. All his per36 numbers, advanced stats and on/off numbers were excellent. Both Monroe and Vucevic are surprisingly good passing big men with AST% comparable to Nurk. Both are good rebounders and scorers, but neither offer much rim protection.

Vucevic is cheaper, but has two years left on his contract. Monroe would be a 1-year rental while Biggie and Collins learn the ropes. I'd be fine with either as our back up center, but would still rather go with someone like Kyle O'Quinn or Cole Aldrich who are both MUCH cheaper, offer much more rim protection and are career back ups who are accustomed to coming off the bench. I prefer O'Quinn as he can play both center and power forward and would be a good fit both backing up Nurk and playing beside him.

Unless we trade Meyers, I don't see us needing a big in a trade....we need wing defense more than anything and some bench scoring...I like Vucevic...if they would trade for Meyers and spare change, I't be a good move but as it stands.....we need to replace Crabbe and maybe Connaughton.

We also have our $12.9 million TPE that could be used for someone like Courtney Lee who would give us both wing defense and scoring off the bench.

Lee + O'Quinn or Aldrich would really shore up our bench until our younger players (Swanigan, Collins and Layman) are ready to contribute.

Did you forget how vulnerable we are in the middle without Nurkic last year? Whenever he went to the bench, things went to shit. And what does Meyers Leonard have to do with us needing a big? Are you a blazer fan or did you just come from the moon?

Blazers just cleared $$$ by trading Crabbe for virtually nothing, they aren't going to go adding another $10M+ to their TAX BILL. If anything, its a minimum contract, but more likely another trade that sends out more than we bring in by $4M for NO TAX BILL. Delay the repeater!

One of Harkless/Aminu has to go. I'll ride with Harkless.
