The only better pure scorers than CJ imo are Harden, KD, and Steph.

Because if you surround Klay with a bunch of average talent his game will suffer. He's a better overall player right now, as a member of the warriors. CJs game would not only be the same wherever he was, it might be even better. Just think back to the games Lillard missed. CJ elevated his play. Averaged 30+ with a spike in every other category as well. I don't see Klay taking his game to another level being the main guy.

He's not nearly as good a dribble-drive scorer as McCollum, but we've already seen someone like Klay be a first option, with Reggie Miller in Indiana. IMO, Klay is actually a better ball-handler and passer than Miller was. I think Thompson would definitely lift his averages as a first option.

I love me some CJ.... but the homer goggles are strong right now.

Top 5 in the league in scoring? Gosh.... I don't know.

They are both such pure shooters. I'd give Klay the mid-range game due to his height. CJ a better ball handler obviously. It's probably a wash all-round, but I don't know if either would be my top ten choices to build around. They are probably 1 and 2 for #2's in the league though.

Harden? Jimmy Butler?

What trait does he not have? He's a complete player when it comes to scoring. nothing homer about it. It's ok to rate your players.

Harden? Jimmy Butler?

Those two could arguably be (and have been) #1 options on their respective teams, so I guess we are talking about two different, undefined lists. Either way, CJ and Klay's overall talents are pretty comparable, that's all I was saying.

Oh you were saying #2 options, not #2 as in shooting guards.

What puts McCollum ahead of Kyrie Irving as a pure scorer? Irving is as complete a scorer as there is. LeBron James has shown every year in the playoffs that when he takes it off cruise control and goes as hard as he can, he's as good a scorer as there is in the league.

McCollum is a gifted scorer, definitely, but I don't think he's a top-five scorer, especially when you factor in big men like Anthony Davis, DeMarcus Cousins and even Towns who really turned into an elite scorer over the second half of last year. If you just limit it to guards, I could see an argument.

CJ is healthy, loyal, talented and I see no reason to trade him for another big...AD is talented but really, really injury prone....CJ is a really mature, bright, high character guy and you want to make him play with Boogie in the Big Easy? We have plenty of bigs right now..we need to replace AC at this point...not with a max contract guy either...AD is an elite player, no doubt...but to me we have Nurk and some really good PFs on friendly contracts. Our team would be better in my view keeping CJ and adding a Gerald Henderson type to replace AC off the bench

Probably efficiency. Irving has poor shooting percentages, similar to Dame, but unlike Dame he has LeBron and Kevin Love to take pressure off him.

Last year was the first year that McCollum had a good efficiency (TS%) and it was .585. Irving's last year was .580. Lillard's was .586. It's a myth that Lillard is inefficient--you can't just look at his field goal percentage; that's reduced by the fact that he takes ~8 threes a game, which are lower-percentage (but higher yield) shots.

I don't like the Kyrie demand for a trade.....so I don't want him in Portland..I don't care how good he is....he's bailing on a team that he's won a championship with and been to the finals with multiple times....no thanks

Klay is an excellent defender, an elite shooter/scorer and taller than CJ. Klay on Portland scores 27/game and guards the opponents best guard. If I had to make a guess id say no GM would prefer CJ over Klay.

Guards the Blazers Best guard? Who was guarding Dame when he scored 51 on them?

Klay is a role player, CJ is a focal point.
It could be argued that Klay is better at being a role player than CJ is at being a focal point. But that's as far as it goes - you can't build a team around Klay the way you could around CJ.
Butler is an entirely different story - he's the type of player Klay wishes he was.

Fair enough. I was. Don't really follow the bulls tbh. I think Butler's overrated personally.
I see. Personally I see last year as an aberration in his career more than anything else. Will be interesting to see him in a new situation.

Interesting. I don't necessarily disagree - I think most players are overrated. But Butler is one of the few players I'd consider swapping CJ for. Unlike Klay. I think Butler's defense is obviously better than CJ's, and also better than Klay's. Butler's offense isn't as good as CJ's, but he seems to do everything better than Klay except shoot 3-pointers. Butler can be a focal point on offense, and be the guy who guards the other team's best guard/wing.
Of Rose/Butler I always felt like Rose was the most overrated and Butler was the more legit player. Rose always reminded me of a poor man's Brandon Roy.

Dame & CJ want to win now. Let's see how loyal they stay if it isn't really happening in a few more years and reality sets in. Get another big time star in Portland!

I can't tell if this is serious or sarcasm.
