In case you don't know how the NBA works, it's this: You win with the best players, not the "best values". Nobody's giving us a medal or a brownie points because Nurkic gives us good value. Nurkic is said to be the 2nd best player at times. The 2nd best player for the Lakers is Anthony Davis. The 2nd best player for the Clippers is Paul George. Would anyone trade Anthony Davis or Paul George for Jusuf Nurkic straight up because he's a good value?
Having cheaper contract allows us to obtain and keep better players elsewhere...

Trent Jr+2020 1st for Saric
Doesnt work financially, and do you really think that the 37th pick in the 2018 draft (at a position Phoenix has a logjam at) is the difference between the difference between the 6th and 11th picks in this years draft?

Blazers gotta make a move, west is going to be brutal and the LA teams will be playing their stars <60 games to keep them healthy for the playoffs.

if Portland wants a top 4 seed they need a major needle mover.

what can they get for baze and trent jr + picks etc???? starving for rumors and it's a wasteland out there

I could have swore it was Willis, not Louis. Who made that shit?

Fail.

My bad!

We definetly have to make a big move at the Deadline, we cant go into the Playoffs with this roster after what happened with the L.A. Teams, i'm sure Neil knows what to do

We could really use a forward/wing that can defend bigger forwards while shooting threes. There just doesn't seem to be any of those available right now. Many teams are eager to see how tbey play with their new additions.

But in December that could change. Some teams will be out of the playoff hunt. We could flip one of Baze/Hassan if one is struggling plus picks for an upgrade.

Even the Hood/Kanter additions came with little cost, if a big trade isn't available maybe Neil can add a key rotational player by that route.

I'm expecting no moves before the season starts outside an insignificant minimum signing.

Then trade CJ and Nurk for Karl Anthony Townes and it’s all over for the rest of the league.
Lillard, Simons, Covington, Porter, Townes.

Stop.

Towns is probably the most overrated player in the league and Nurk comes in his house, puts his feet up, and has KAT make him a sammich every time they play.

Assuming Nurk gets healthy enough to be his old self. We trade Whiteside for Love assuming Love does not have some hidden injury that could compromise his play. Then we have five shooters on the floor all could demand double teams. Nurk, Love, CJ, Dame and Hood

This idea makes baby Jesus cry.
Please don't make baby Jesus cry.

If Whiteside is happy here and we're playing well, he won't be traded.
If we're not playing well, Love won't be the difference, and we'd be in Tax hell 4ever. :(

We shouldn’t really be looking to take on another huge contract. It’s about retooling and building around Dame and CJ at this point and I think CJ is eligible for an extension next Summer which would probably see him take $40million+ home in some of his remaining seasons. He will certainly receive an offer to extend the very first moment he becomes eligible for it too.

Imagine paying CJ, Dame and Kevin Love $110million+ a year when they are all 32-33. That would be impossible cap hell. We wouldn’t even be able to extend the likes of Collins, Simons when they became eligible for it, likely.

I dont think CJ will be eligible for a super max though, dont you have to make an all-nba team or be the mvp?

Minnesota’s become the place that bigs go to be one man teams have incredible stats and not much success, Kevin Garnett, Kevin Love and Karl Anthony Towns, the good news for KAT is those other guys eventually got to go play with other good players and won rings.

Are we really building around CJ and Dame? To me that would be a huge mistake. I don’t know any great teams where neither of their building blocks were notable defenders.
Unfortunately, this could be reality.

Townes is a very good big man on a poorly run and coached team. He’s one of the toughest guys in the league to defend, and when the Blazer play the Wolves I’m always hoping he doesn’t get the ball in a clutch situation.

Its a mistake to build around our best two players? ... tf

This debate is so fucking tired and old.... how many times do we have to discuss it? last year it was if they couldn't get out of the first round then changes had to be made. Sorry that did not happen for some of you.

It its ridiculous to think you can't build around two good scorers. There are many ways to build a team. Surround them with 7 complimentary players who do play D. Besides Dame and CJ stepped it up on D against OKC and Denver. They proved they can do it as well.
