So, since Olshey finally seems to be taking defense seriously... maybe just maybe it's time for all of my dreams to come true.

CJ for Oladipo and McConnell

I honestly think Indy would go for this and it would make us better. Oladipo isn't as dynamic of a scorer in the half court as CJ but he can still get his own shots, he is a good spot up shooter that takes open threes when set up and he gets transition points we can't even dream of CJ getting. We don't even need to address the difference it would make to our defense, we would be one of the best defenses in the league.

Dame, Oladipo, Hood, RoCo, Nurk, Gary, Zach, Jones, Enes and McConnell would be a full ten man rotation Nas, Ant, Elleby, hopefully Wenyen and the BAE would make up the rest of our roster. I think this team is a real championship contender.

The other trade that is probably way less realistic is CJ and every draft pick we could throw at them for PG13, then use the BAE for a backup point guard.

I’m much more in favor of waiting to see how the Clippers storyline develops. You’re banking on his health and if he doesn’t perform, you’ve lost a trade asset. We would have to continue to be porous for me to suggest getting rid of CJ. I would consider a sign-and-trade for Oladipo next summer if he showed that the injuries are behind him. Dame/Trent/PG/Covington/Nurkic or Dame/Trent/Leonard/Covington/Nurkic is the dream though.

While I dont think the Kings are gonna send Hield in a S+T for Whiteeside, that would be incredible. I'd be happy with Bjelica coming this way. The playmaking would be valuable.

This isn't a Blazers trade idea so it won't have CJ in it for once. This addresses Houston's unhappy former MVPs.

Philly sends Ben Simmons to Houston

Houston sends James Harden to Philly.
Houston also sends Russell Westbrook to New York,

New York sends Julius Randle, their 2021 first rounder and Dallas' 2021 first rounder to Houston.
New York also sends their 2023 first rounder and Charlotte's 2021 second rounder to Philly.

What’s the word on Whiteside? So quiet! I saw posts of Sacramento’s interest but other than that, have the Blazers had anything to say in regards to Whiteside?

Just saw this on Bleacher Report Their idea was Portland sending out Zach and Ant and getting back Devonte Graham and Malik Monk from Charlotte. Would give the Blazers their back up PG I guess.

How does a dude shoot like 37% from three and 38% from the field? lol

Monk is garbo.

I'd rather go down to the Y and give some random dude a min contract.

I don't care about Monk.

But Graham? Similar TS% as CJ, 35% assist % last year (higher than Dame's career high, btw), and won't have to carry as much of an offensive load on this team.

What has Collins shown to be worth that?

Switch Monk with PJ Washington and it’s doable.

Graham would be awesome to have in the second unit.

Meyers Leonard just got 10 million a year from Miami.

What has he shown.... ever?

How is this relevant to the trade that was being discussed?

They're both tall. They're both white. And they both suck.

BOOM! Relevance.

Apparently the league values tall white guy projects. I don't know what to tell you.

Sorry I don't get it.

Graham is better than Collins, and there's no way the Hornets would make that deal.

The B/R post actually suggested Collins and Simons for Graham and Monk. Not that that really makes it much worse for us, or better for Charlotte. Does make it quite a bit less likely that Neil would be interested, though.

There reasoning was that the Hornets just drafted Ball and need bigs and Portland needs a back up PG. Not sure I agree with the trade, but just thought it was curious and always like to hear others takes on them.

are we really sure that Zach is a more "dynamic" defender than John Collins? Scowling, especially after foul calls, isn't really a factor in defense

Zach may be, but the evidence is slim, at best. In Zach's last full season, 2018-19, Zach had a DRPM of +0.99. Last season, JC had one of +0.51. That's not much of a difference and in fact may be mostly due to team defense rather than their individual defense. Portland had a DR of 110.5 while Zach had a DR of 110. Meanwhile, Atlanta had a DR of 114.8 while JC had one of 112. In other words, John Collins was +2.8 points better than his team on defense while Zach was only +0.5 points better than his team

possibly mitigating more in favor of John Collins is that Zach came off the bench and played a lot of minutes against 2nd unit players, while JC was facing starters. And. from what I've seen of JC I think he is better operating on the perimeter defensively than Zach. I might be wrong about though or operating from a small sample size of observation

combine a debatably smallish advantage for Zach on defense with the big advantages JC has on offense and on the boards sure seems to indicate JC would be a big upgrade from Zach as starting PF

of course, Atlanta wouldn't do that trade though
What do your eyes say? Because DRPM is flawed

you can say that about most stats and eyeballs vary wildly according to bias

as I said, Zach may be the better defender but the defensive gap, if it's there, isn't anywhere near as big as the offensive advantage JC has over Zach.

That's why you don't let bias cloud your vision, but it explains why you don't reference anything you actually see.

I tend to listen to Dame when he has opinions about these things. Check the middle video clip. I had to take a screenshot because the actual video is no longer in KGW's vault.
