was under the impression he did that already. nvm

I would take him for Whiteside in a S&T.

Yeah Hayward would be amazing acquisition for us.

Whiteside may have to go to a third team, I don't know Boston would want him.

Maybe restructure the Ariza trade... send Ariza to Boston and Whiteside to Detroit with some more draft picks going out.

Can we can restructure the Ariza trade. Didn't Houston already move Ariza and the pick to Detroit?

I don't believe the trades going on 20/21 books are officially completed until next week... even after free agent verbal agreements.

We'd possibly have to get Houston to also agree to restructure it. Seems like sending them $200k cash would be enough.

Often deals get agreed to preliminary by teams/players then the tweak them for the final version to add more teams or players if all parties agree to.

Would love to add Hayward in a S&T, but seems unlikely/wishful thinking.
I can't remember if I speculated here on Hayward thinking, that he likely has an offer from Atlanta, but would prefer to go elsewhere. So his hope is convincing Boston to do S&T, with the leverage of walking to Atlanta.
If we did a double sign and trade, with , like, hood to NY, Whiteside to Boston, each getting decent amount in year 1. And Hayward here. Maybe we agree to take Kanter into the tpe as compensation.

How good is Hayward at this point? I really haven't watched him much in Boston lately.

CJ to Boston in a sign and trade of Hayward and Boston sends over a 2021 first rounder. I'm pretty sure that Hayward fits under the label of "can create his own shot", he's only a year older than CJ, he's a helluva lot better than CJ on defense and we get a pick because Boston is just facilitating the sign and trade so that's hardly worth CJ. So we're trading CJ for the facilitation and a first rounder in a deep draft.

No, need a more dynamic defender than Collins.

are we really sure that Zach is a more "dynamic" defender than John Collins? Scowling, especially after foul calls, isn't really a factor in defense

Zach may be, but the evidence is slim, at best. In Zach's last full season, 2018-19, Zach had a DRPM of +0.99. Last season, JC had one of +0.51. That's not much of a difference and in fact may be mostly due to team defense rather than their individual defense. Portland had a DR of 110.5 while Zach had a DR of 110. Meanwhile, Atlanta had a DR of 114.8 while JC had one of 112. In other words, John Collins was +2.8 points better than his team on defense while Zach was only +0.5 points better than his team

possibly mitigating more in favor of John Collins is that Zach came off the bench and played a lot of minutes against 2nd unit players, while JC was facing starters. And. from what I've seen of JC I think he is better operating on the perimeter defensively than Zach. I might be wrong about though or operating from a small sample size of observation

combine a debatably smallish advantage for Zach on defense with the big advantages JC has on offense and on the boards sure seems to indicate JC would be a big upgrade from Zach as starting PF

of course, Atlanta wouldn't do that trade though

I’d deal zach if he had trade value but I don’t think him or Simons gets you anything better back honestly.

Sign and trade for Buddy Hield ($24.4 M) or Harrison F. Barnes ($22.2 M) or Cory Joseph ($12.6 M)?

So, if I have right, we've traded...

Whiteside, Melo, Mario, 2 1st rounders, and a 2nd rounder
for
Kanter, Derrick Jones, Covington, Elleby (and maybe Bowman)
and
we re-signed Rodney Hood for 1-2 more years.

So, since Olshey finally seems to be taking defense seriously... maybe just maybe it's time for all of my dreams to come true.

CJ for Oladipo and McConnell

I honestly think Indy would go for this and it would make us better. Oladipo isn't as dynamic of a scorer in the half court as CJ but he can still get his own shots, he is a good spot up shooter that takes open threes when set up and he gets transition points we can't even dream of CJ getting. We don't even need to address the difference it would make to our defense, we would be one of the best defenses in the league.

Dame, Oladipo, Hood, RoCo, Nurk, Gary, Zach, Jones, Enes and McConnell would be a full ten man rotation Nas, Ant, Elleby, hopefully Wenyen and the BAE would make up the rest of our roster. I think this team is a real championship contender.

The other trade that is probably way less realistic is CJ and every draft pick we could throw at them for PG13, then use the BAE for a backup point guard.

I love Victor, but he is in the last year of his contract, and he is injured - a lot.
