I think we will be better than last season, we were overhyped with the additions from last year and under hyped this season. With that said what do we need? Backup PG? I doubt it ever happens, they seem determined to make Simons/CJ that guy.

Portland Trail Blazers
Before acquiring Nance, the Trail Blazers also had an interest in Grizzlies guard Dillon Brooks, sources said.

From Charania. I wonder what we were up to. He also wrote Philly still not trading Simmons because their main target is Lillard.

Morey's like that cat in high school who just can't see, she's just not that into you.

Morey has to put this stuff out there to try and convince Sixer's fans that he is doing something. Philly doesn't even have young assets that Portland could rebuild with if they did want to deal Dame. The Nicks are much more attractive partners for such a deal. Morey is fucked, he knows it and has his people putting this out there to save face.

I’m barely interested in Simmons for McCollum, never mind Dame. He needs to move on. What’s next, he’s gonna sign Blevins to the active roster? Shit is embarrassing.
Resident shrill Kevin O'Connor name dropped Phil Beckner as if it meant something in a recent podcast.... ignoring the fact that he also worked out with guys like Bridges/Nurk/Simons/Hutchison, etc in the past.

That was just a shameless display from Morey in the first place to think his hire would mean something for Dame's supposed desire to play there, but the media running with it was just nuts. Do these guys know anything about Dame and how he works?

No they do not. They have Head Upcha & East Coast Bias. There is no cure, because they're not willing to get educated.

If Beckner was hired as an actual assistant coach and had to exclusively work with Sixers players then there would have been something to write about and that's what I initially thought was going on but the fact that he's just a consultant and continues to have his main business as an independent trainer makes it meaningless.

Besides that, if Dame found out his guy was just being used as a play to draw him to Philly rather than get hired for his merits, I would bet anything the whole situation would only deter Dame from going there in the first place.

Yeah, when I misunderstood what was being reported and thought they'd hired Beckner as an actual assistant I thought that Beckner wouldn't have done it without Dame's blessing and that worried me. So I don't think it could have been done as a ploy because the two are so close. It either was nothing as is the case or it would have been a pretty significant sign that Dame wanted to be there... which it obviously wasn't.

@Rastapopoulos thoughts?

Caris steps in as our 6th man and we get a starting quality forward. Memphis gets a first for Slow Mo. Indy gets a really potent lineup with Brogdan/CJ/Warren/Sabonis/Turner

Dame / Simons
Powell/ LeVert
Anderson / Little
Roco / Nance
Nurk / Zeller

I think this makes us super deep with 7 starting quality players and really nice 9/10 man rotation.

Oh and we get below the tax.

I know you didn't ask me, but I'll answer anyway--"In a freakin' heartbeat!". Doesn't really feel like a benefit to either of the other teams in the deal though. Really don't see it for the Grizz--Anderson has to be worth more than that.

Indiana wins that one handily. I happen to think most of this board underrates CJ (so the truth lies somewhere between this board's estimation and Olshey's).
We'd have a better balance, and I love me some SloMo, but teams would just collapse on Dame. Yes, Levert looked great in the Bubble, but I think he's a bit of a gunner.

Interested why you say this. Norm, RoCo and SloMo are all capable shooters, and Anderson and Nurkic can also distribute well from the high post. Everyone on the floor would be a good outlet for Dame if trapped. Is this about a lack of ball-handlers on the floor?

Would love this even more if we could swap LeVert out for Warren

I just mean that he will be the only person who can create his own shot.
