I'll believe it if I see it.

Looking at the blazers schedule before the deadline, it’ll probably be pretty hard for Olshey to justify any move that isn’t an upgrade to the actual roster/playoff run.

But this is Woj, so Olshey is most likely just trying to fool the fans...again.

Middleton is an unrestricted free agent after this season so they are worried he could leave for nothing. Obviously we would have the same concerns, hence the risk and why the Bucks would consider it. I got directly from a Bucks site.
He would be a good get as I believe he also can play the 2 guard. He's a decent defender too.

Assume that AD would actually like to leave the Pels, and the Pels would trade him to a Western team, and AD would love to live in Portland and/or play with Dame, would Blazers possibly have the right pieces? I know they have a whole bunch of nice middling pieces, but no top 5 pick or the like. I'm having a hard time seeing package that would compete.

This is the second time I'm seeing that mentioned about Portland going after AD based on what Billups said.

Quick referenced something similar on a recent podcast, but said that Neil would be very reluctant to give up "his guys," mainly CJ and Collins.

Which would be absolute joke if Neil even thinks for a second about not doing that.

That said, is Nurk one of "his guys?" If I were the Pelicans, I'd much rather have Nurk than CJ as the centerpiece. I'd do it.

That was somewhat my thought too. Nurkic has a great contract, is showing how productive he can be. Not sure there is a better younger big man that you might realistically get. If you could do Nurkic, Simons/Trent and picks, then you could still keep Collins to go with AD, that would be plenty--as much as I would hate to lose Nurk. Neil gave up his guys to get Chris Paul when the time came. I'm pretty sure he would do the same with AD.

Here's one that would work after Jan 15.

Davis and Batum to POR
Nurk, Aminu, Monk, Bridges, 2019 1st (from POR) to NO
CJ to CHA

We'd be left with Dame/Nic/Moe/Collins/AD as our lineup. Salary cap hell, but we put Dame-AD together.

NO gets 2 recent late lotto picks and a first rounder, salary relief and a building block in Nurk.

CHA gets rid of Nic's contract and gets a good running mate to convince Kemba to stay. Brought them into the mix only because I think New Orleans would rather have youngins on cheap deals than CJ.

And besides, I don't especially like the AD-Nurk pairing. We kinda saw it when Boogie was down there last year. Didn't really work until they brought in Mirotic to space the floor.

The Blazers want to go after AD but Dame, CJ, Nurk, Collins and Simons are off the table.

I think nurk would be more open to things that help the team win than boogie was.

And nobody would get tired of seeing Nurk pass to a cutting AD for the dunk. But, Nurk would likely have to be part of the deal--unless they really wanted Collins instead.

Recall that Nurk also couldn't play with Jokic. Very possible that he'd be marginalized next to Davis as well.

Nurk
CJ
Picks into the afterlife.
Ya I'm of this mindset too. Give em everything.

As a reference, Neil traded away Kaman, Eric Gordon, and Aminu along with an unprotected pick (Austin Rivers) for CP and 2 seconds.

Kaman was averaging 12/7 back then at age 28 as an expiring contract. Only played a year there after the trade.

Gordon was probably the center piece. Was averaging 22 ppg at age 22 on a rookie deal. He was injury prone though.

Aminu was a rookie with the Clips and hadn't done much outside of being a late lotto pick. He played there for 2 seasons before leaving as a FA to Dallas.

He's suggesting that that's Olshey's mindset. Claiming that the Blazers front office and fans think all players are "untouchable" is part of his shtick.

Where was that said, insinuated or even remotely suggested?

You didn't look?

If you think Malcolm Brogdon is considered in the same class as CJ then there is no reason for us to further this discussion.

I would make a bet not one GM in the league would put them in the same class as what caliber player they are.

CJ is having a down year right now... Malcolm Brogdon? Come on

If Nurk is wanted by the Pelicans then fine, but I completely disagree with the AD/Nurk pairing being a poor one. I think they'd be great together as AD can easily play the 4. In fact if we are going to beat the Warrior and Rocket type teams I think that would be the best way to go about it.

The theory that CJ is having a down year has been debunked. His numbers are actually slightly better than last year. I don't understand why you are being so close minded. Looking at the numbers a little further it might not even be close.

CJ plays 5 minutes more per game and scores 5.3 points per game more but takes 6.6 more shots per game to get his numbers. Brogdon has CJ by over 10% on 3 point shots. 2 point shots Brogdon is over 4% better than CJ. Straight FG% Brogdon has a 6% advantage. eFG% Brogdon is 8% higher. TS% Brogdon is shooting a really phenomenal 62.5%, which is 8.9% higher than CJ.

So I ask you, if Brogdon absolutely destroys CJ at the one thing (shooting) that CJ is supposed to excel at, where does CJ make up the difference to be better?

Rebounding? Nope, Brogdon is better.

Passing? Nope, Brogdon is better.

Defense? Nope Brogdon is better.

Size? Nope, Brogdon is taller and weighs more.

Even CJ's best year doesn't compare to Brogdon this year. It's not even close. So I ask you what part of this makes it not worthy of discussion if I think Brogdon is better?

Clippers sign Kawhi, resign Harris, then at the deadline, trade Harris, SGA, and 2/3 future 1sts for AD. We couldn't compete with that package.

Yeah, but the Pelicans would be risking a lot waiting until the trade deadline next year to trade him. One of the players involved could get hurt. The less time AD is with a team the less likely he would stay too. I'd be surprised if AD isn't traded this summer the moment he turns down the Super Max.

What is CJ's career 3pt %?

answer me this, do yout hink GM's look at brogdon the same way they look at CJ?

If they switched places and CJ was on the bucks, you dont think theyd be a better team?
What if our starting line up was Dame, brogdon, mo, aminu and nurk?

Comparing stats is one way to comapre players, the other is the eye test. what does CJ do to the opposing defense compared to Brogdan? defensesprepare for CJ, they dont for brogdan.

Put CJ on a team with middleton and the greak freak and lets see what happens
