If we don’t get LMA this upcoming season vía trade, the ship may have sailed.

Except it has LMA at the 4, which is probably where Stotts would unfortunately play him, and he isn't a 4As much as I HATE the idea if LMA coming back to Portland, this trade idea has some legs
I agree with this, I'd likely take Middleton over CJ, and can see an argument for Milwaukie to take CJ over Middleton. But I don't think it jumps us up another tier. Maybe it would.I want CJ on another team, and I think Middleton is quite a bit better than CJ and would fit better with Dame than CJ
that said, I'd probably be reluctant to give up a pick too because CJ's contract is as big an impediment to Portland upgrading the roster as CJ's fit and usage. And, while Middleton is the better player, his contract is even bigger than CJ's. More than that, I just don't think a Middleto for CJ swap is enough of an upgrade to significantly alter Portland's trajectory. They's still be a 2nd elite player away from being a contender, and they'd still have no cap-flexibility

As for including a pick, I'd probably consider a swap, CJ and 16 for Middleton and 24?
Yeah, I think barring some crazy splash, which I think isn't gonna happen, like the Giannis pipe dreams, a slight shift, and then another move could be the best we get. Full health, some development, and a CJ-Middleton swap maybe shifts needle from battling for 4/5 to battling for 2/3.yeah, I guess that makes it a little better, but it's still generally a rather lateral move. The 'needle' moves a little but it sure doesn't jump
i look at through the lense of the trade also allowing for GTjr expanding his role/PT in addition to the swap of principals. through the addition of GTjr's plugability into the SG, i view it as a net gain.yeah, I guess that makes it a little better, but it's still generally a rather lateral move. What about a 3 way deal with Philly and Milwaukee
Philly Out: Tobias Harris, Josh Richardson, Matisse Thybulle, #21
Philly In: Khris Middleton, #16, #24.
Milwaukee Out: Khris Middleton, #24
Milwaukee In: CJ McCollum, Trevor Ariza, #21
Portland Out: CJ, Ariza, 16
Portland In: Harris, Richardson, Thybulle
Lillard/Simons
Richardson/Trent
Thybulle/Hood
Harris/Melo
Nurk/Collins

As long as his 20-21 salary is mostly non-guaranteed, his trade value for salary matching purposes is only the very small guaranteed portion. Can a team trade for Ariza and then not pick up his option? When is the deadline to decide whether or not we keep Ariza for next year, and does that deadline pass before we can trade him?

Where did you get that information? He wants a major market.
Common sense. Maybe the best on the planet...I suspect everyone on team giannis wants a major market. Not a huge paradigm shift I am proposing.Where did you get that information?
If he doesn't have much gas in the tank, how much junk does he have in his trunk?Aldridge’s ship
I don’t think he’s got much gas in the tank!
i know, I know..... WHAT TANK?

Would he? If I m the Bucks and I trade Giannis I don't want back CJ and his terrible contract. I want Zach, I want Ant and I also want Nurkic for Brook. I also want a million picks which would be added here.View attachment 33396
ok then, in 2021-22 the Blazers sign Giannis to a super-max deal, making him equal to Dame
that would mean in 2021-22 the Blazers would have 130 million in salary locked into Dame/CJ/Giannis/Lopez. And the tax line may be close to that. In 2023-24, Portland would have 137 million in salaries going to Dame/CJ/Giannis
Jody Allen would be paying 120 million in tax every year, maybe more. Portland better be winning championships, at least two every year
Olshey is treating CJ like his first love, he won't trade him and even if he wanted Dame wouldn't be okay with that because Friendship meants more to him than a possible Championshipfrom that article:
* "Two-way wings with his combination of size and versatility are the most valuable players in the league. Brogdon might not have been able to save the Bucks from falling into a 3-1 hole against the Heat. But he sure would help. The Bucks desperately need players who can create their own shot, initiate the offense, space the floor, and defend."
Olshey needs to get that memo
otherwise, Jody Allen needs to read it and find a GM who will get it and quit filling the roster with one-way perimeter players
