@Rastapopoulos thoughts?

Caris steps in as our 6th man and we get a starting quality forward. Memphis gets a first for Slow Mo. Indy gets a really potent lineup with Brogdan/CJ/Warren/Sabonis/Turner

Dame / Simons
Powell/ LeVert
Anderson / Little
Roco / Nance
Nurk / Zeller

I think this makes us super deep with 7 starting quality players and really nice 9/10 man rotation.

Oh and we get below the tax.

Wow... I gotta give this one props... I'd do this and could see the other teams doing it too.

Edit: Wait... MEM kinda gets shorted here...

We'd have a better balance, and I love me some SloMo, but teams would just collapse on Dame. Yes, Levert looked great in the Bubble, but I think he's a bit of a gunner.

Adding SloMo creates an even better situation for Dame to be off ball. I disagree with this take completely.

Anderson is on an expiring contract and is rumored to be shopping him. A first round pick in the 18-25 or so range is about the best they can hope for him.

Trading CJ and Roco for Simmons might actually make us worse. At least that’s what I’d bet on happening. It’ll never happen though.

Let’s get a SF by trading CJ for Ingram

Lillard
Powell
Ingram (RoCo comes off the bench as 6th man)
Nance
Nurk

Bench = Ant / Snell / Little / RoCo / Zeller

RoCo Can play 3 or 4 behind Ingram/Nance and provides good insurance as well

This means we need to sign a backup PG or trade for one come December

As with most of your trade proposals, you need to consider whether the other team would be interested. Seems unlikely that New Orleans would fill their backcourt with Graham and Hart after drafting Alexander-Walker and Lewis, and then trade the only decent forward they have besides Zion for yet another guard that would take minutes from the other 4 I mentioned.

The pelicans are not trading Ingram for CJ straight up. Plus, I think it’s pretty obvious teams are waiting for Dame, not CJ. Hopefully that will change. I still think the Blazers are gearing up for a big midsession move though.

LOL good luck Morey

btw why would anyone want this entitled little baby with no work ethic anyway? I can’t believe I ever wanted him. Guys a loser.

I hardly think anyone can be a 3 time all-star and make the all-defensive first team on multiple occasions with no work ethic. I hope you contribute to the dwindling of his value so we can swoop him up for CJ!

he has regressed since he got in the league which tells me he hasn’t actually worked on his game and just got by with his natural talent.

Like it or not Paul is fast becoming the most powerful agent in the league. Know what’s funny tho? Billups is a Klutch guy and Olshey goes way back with LeBron

Imagine if after an entire summer of other teams fans thirsting for Dame it’s actually Portland that ends up as the destination for other teams stars.

So I'm curious.... what would happen if the league banned Rich Paul from representing players?

What grounds would there be to ban Rich Paul for representing his clients?

Was anyone saying that Harden's agents should be banned from representing players after he wanted out last season?

Was anyone saying that about Kawhi's agent?

Has anyone even begun to think those thoughts about Dame's agents after rumblings and rumors this offseason?

Advanced stats disagree with that. He improved slightly every year and regressed last year under Doc while also suffering a knee injury and 2 back injuries.

I am going to go it is much more likely that the combination of health and new coach/role is the main issue for his last year dip.

I still think he is such an interesting young talent that he is worth the risk. I do not think this team is really going to be a contender without a 2nd real star at a non guard position and the opportunity to get one of those is small, so if it is there, you roll the dice and hope for the best

What advanced stats?

Literally gets worse every season minus one stall. Definitely no improvement. His best season was his rookie season. What is that?

Look at the number of games .., these are accumulative stats, they are great for overall impact but without number of games played, do not really indicate progress.

PER, ws/48, TS pct are better for progress

those numbers are for entire seasons. His ws/48 has shown no improvement since his rookie year btw. You can’t possible be serious with true shooting percentage either when arguing about Ben Simmons. Of course his percentages have improved as he’s gotten more and more afraid of actually you know..shooting.

Note to NeO -- Stay out of talking to Philly unless it's to help Philly and the Blazers getting Matisse Thybulle in return but if they want to ship Simmons to Portland just hang up and do it FAST .... this would be my advice to NeO

Exactly, VORP is not indicative of progress or regression if he played 81 games in his first season and 57 in his 3rd, which is why I said they are not a good stat for progress/regression.

His ws/48 has shown no improvement since his rookie year btw.

His first year it was 0.162, his third 0.165 - in the playoffs he has gone from .103 in his first year to .161 in his 3rd year (and even .173 in his last, much maligned season).

This is in direct contradiction to the quote I was referring to:

he has regressed since he got in the league which tells me he hasn’t actually worked on his game and just got by with his natural talent.

PER went from 20.0 first year to 20.4 3rd year and playoffs went from 16 to 18 in his 3rd year.

His per 36 FGAs have gone down, but so has his USG% - so, I am going to call this "shooting less" a myth as well - about the same shooting his first 3 years with small improvements. As I mentioned, I am going to take his first year under Doc with a different role and battling injuries with a grain of salt - but the numbers clearly do not show a player that regressed. It shows a player that has made very small improvements as I said in my original answer until the dip last year.

Could he have progressed more? Probably. Is he "lazy" - maybe - but there is no data to indicate that, has he regressed, not at all. He made small improvements.

Why would they?

Better question: How could they?

Another one: Why are we even considering it?

Another one: Has anyone in here EVER considered it?

So first of all, I asked what would happen if they did it. I didn’t ask why or how or when or who.

But I’m just curious if an agent, any agent really, became too powerful and started causing problems, what would happen if they tried to black ball him?

I just read another "unsubstantiated" claim that that was according to "Sauces" (So take it with a grain of salt please) that Portland and Sacramento are the front runners to land Simmons.
Oh boy would it be funny if Simmons ended up in a Kings uniform.
On the other side. If it's a three team deal? Who on the Kings roster would look good in Portland? Barnes, Bagley, Harkless, Thompson, Len, Holmes, Hield? They are not giving up Fox I presume?

How about CJ and Bagley to PHI, Barnes/Maxey to PDX, and Simmons to SAC

Kings could put Simmons at the 4 and be the fastest/most open court team in the league. Philly gets CJ and a young player with promise. We balance shit out, get bigger, and add a player than can get to the cup.

Lillard/Simons
Powell/Maxey
Covington/Nas
Barnes/Nance
Nurkic/Zeller
