I can't tell if this is a joke or not. B/R said we are making our entire roster available to upgrade this team around Dame but want to keep Jerami and Shae. If we want we have our 2025, '27 and '29 FRPs available just by calling Chicago and either paying them some cash or sending them a second rounder.

So I don't think all is lost because we didn't trade for Rui. I'm really hoping Joe is trying to catch a much bigger fish than that.

B/R....is that Bleacher Report? It doesn't surprise me as I didn't believe Chris Haynes, for a second, that Cronin was holding Ant untouchable. Dame is going nowhere and Grant + Sharpe are the only 2 other players who should be 'un-shopped'. Even then, due diligence would dictate listening to offers on them

as for the Chicago pick, I don't think that's as easy a solve as you do. To start with, even though you don't see the reasons, Chicago might not be very cooperative. But more importantly, the Blazers are currently in a 5-way tie for 6th position in the lottery, based on wins. Blazers would be idiots to trade away a potential top 6 draft pick and the chances it could be a top-3 pick with lottery luck. Unless there's a major change in fortunes in the next 10 days or a complete no-brainer trade on the table, I don't think Portland would even make the offer to Chicago

I just saw this: Austin Rivers on Jaden McDaniels: “Jaden’s gotta be on an (all-)defensive team. He guards some of the best players better than anybody in the NBA. The fact that he is able to move his feet at his size, with his length, is impressive, man." (shoots 38% on threes)
Simons and Hart for McDaniels, Russel and Naz Reid.
Russel is 6'4" and although this is from a year ago: "We’re halfway through the season, and D’Angelo Russell’s defense is still at an all-time career high. Sitting at a 102.7 defensive rating or DRTG, DLo is ranked 25th in the league in DRTG and first on this Minnesota Timberwolves roster." Not sure how he fits except as a sixth man and would lose him at the end of the season, (same as Hart?) So it's basically a top defensive forward and a really good backup C for Simons. (Actually Reid is expiring also so might lose him....)

If Hart said he wanted to re-sign here, then would try to get them to take Payton and Winston or Little instead.

They might like Little better than Hart, the way Little is looking lately and he is tied up for a few years. That might be a fairer trade. BTW, Russel ended last year wth DRTG of 115 so he must have really slid over the last half of the season.

The trade with Hart works but just saying we'd give them Nas instead of Hart completely ignores matching salaries.

I’m gonna be so pissed if we move Sharpe in some Hail Mary trade Joe tries to spin as a major needle mover but only gets us as far as a first round exit. It will be O’Neal Part 2.
If we trade Sharpe for anything less than a Superstar it might be the final straw that breaks the back of my 46 years of fandom and I'm not even kidding. That would be the dumbest fucking move imaginable.

Nothing could break my support for our team but I would be livid. I would be posting Fire Cronin just as much as I used to post Fire Olshey. It would be fucking awful.

It must be just a 'coincidence' that both Hart & Nurk got 'injured' in the middle of the last game...
Hart definitely pulled his hammy. Nurk is more of a mystery but he did leave mid-game.

What about something along the lines of Keon for Achiuwa from Toronto. Gives us a solid big and them a young guard. These are the types of moves I am expecting this season.

Sure, why wouldn't the Raptors trade us the guy who just led them in scoring/rebounding in their win over us for a guy who can't get minutes on our roster?

is that sarcasm or cynicism? or a mix of the two? I'm not sure

either way it's kind of a bad look for a moderator. You guys should be above the shit-flicking fray...measured responses. Moderation around here already has to cart around the burden of a pathologically weird Sly who is actually able to accomplish the cyber version of leg-humping himself. So the rest of you guys need to display maturity and neutrality instead of wallowing in the imbecile gutter with guys like me. That's the least you should do considering the salary you get from S2

Thanks for your input. I think I prefer my moderators to be humans rather than vulcans/robots (both of which, admittedly, my wife has called me at times). I'm not going to get personal with anyone or perpetuate a pointless argument, but I see nothing wrong with occasionally pointing out a silly post, mod or not.

you do know my post wasn't input right?

Or they could trade us the guy who was only able to get 4 points and 2 boards against us back on the 8th.
...in his 4th game back from injury. That game was a good launch point for him, though--he's averaged 14.5/7.5 in 27.6mpg since that 1/8 game, and seems to be playing the best ball of his (young) career.

My point is, his trade value is most certainly a lot higher than Keon's.

And my point is we are more likely to go after lower tier players like him over people like Siakam. Maybe we throw in a second, or it is someone else besides Keon, but I think we will go after younger and cheaper players.

Hey, I've got no problem with a dude like Achiuwa...looks like a baller on the come-up to me.

If we are just trying to balance the roster but basically only do that by upgrading the bench, then he's the exact type of guy we would want behind Jerami and Nurk. I don't think he can be had for Keon but who knows. I also hope Joe is going to be a lot more ambitious than just trying to make our bench make sense.

Just read that the Vegas odds of OG Anounoby being traded changed from +200 to -500

Someone in Vegas has inside intel that he gone

Kuzma to Portland? lol

Washington has one of the best records in the NBA since around Christmas. (5 losses) NBA radio this afternoon seemed to believe that Kuzma will be traded despite of it. The reason is he is a free agent this summer and has indicated he won't resign. They were saying he wants to play for a big market team. I would not give up too much for him because of it.

I am more and more convinced the only action will be to trade Hart for a backup center type guy. Still reading Ant is untouchable. smh

The problem with "still reading" stuff is generally, it's said once, and then everything else you read is repeating that same initial reporting. So around the deadline, it looks like Hart's name is coming up a bunch, but really it came up once.

Like @RR7 was saying, no one is saying that they have sources saying Ant is untouchable they are referring back to that initial report. The reports since then have us willing to shop anyone except Dame and last reported Grant but with reports today of Grant saying he's definitely going to wait until the off season to make up his mind (who knows what has been said behind closed doors) I would think everyone besides Dame is available.

I'm prepared to be pissed because I do think it's likely that Ant will still be here after the deadline but I don't think it's irrational at this point to still have hope that we move him.

Don't favor trading Hart but how about this?

Hart for Bey & Noel from Pistons.

Give's us a 3&D and bu 5 that can rim protect.

Saw a mock trade that had Hart going to the Knicks for Toppin and Hartenstein. Would that address some of the size issues and depth the second unit is currently experiencing?
