Kaprelian #3 type starter and comin off tj, fowler big speed coming off bad knee injury and mateo is headaches who yankees weren't enamored with.
kept florial who they were very high on, sheffield, acevedo and other top prospects. Didn't
subtract anyone that affected current roster or projected to current roster in next year or 2 or ever. Beane blinked first and took players yanks were ok with him taking. Very, very happy how this trade went down for us. Doesn't make us the favorite but adds a nice piece to the rotation and he's here for a few years. AS JD WOULD SAY "OH BABYYYYYY".
 
^^^yeah, I think that knowing Gray is proven and that he cheap and under team control for more that 2 years, they felt OK about giving those prospects.

...and since he's arby eligible next year, depending on how he performs the rest of this year the Yanx may simply resign him to a new contract or of course, they can go the arby route.
 
God Damn, Cashman makes some right moves, first ones since '00 when the Yankees got Dave Justice.
 
Girardi has plenty of pitching options for starters and if one goes down the filler are here.
 
And can get tanaka and cc extra day off here and there.

^^^Yup, the BP is very deep but damn, these starters need to find a way to go deeper into games, otherwise the BP will be toasted before October..
 
On paper the Yankees have made some great moves here. Now we need Judge to get back on track and see how far these horses can take us.

...Sanchez too...some of the Yanx appear to have become HR happy like they were a couple of years ago...and it hurt them in the end, especially against good pitching.
 
...the more I look at the trade the more I like it...Mateo had nowhere to go with the Yanx because he was blocked whether it was playing in the IF or the OF. Kaprelian may or may not return to what he was after rehab from TJ surgery...and poor Fowler sustained a horrible knee injury which also makes him a big question mark if/when he returns from rehab.

...so when I look at from that perspective, the Yanx didn't really give up that much in exchange for a proven starter in Sonny Gray, who can help us NOW.
 
Yu Darvish was traded to the Dodgers as per Ken Rosenthal.

Wasn't overly thrilled to see the Yanx pickup Kappy out of UCLA. The kid could run up his fb to 93 at will, occassionally surprise a hitter at 94-95. His consistency to be a fastballer imo was always in question, if not for his change up and mid 80s sliders or <. He did well in the PAC-10, but never looked worthy of pinstripes. With his TJ surgery, I wrote him off. Tho' some come back after TJ, often a different pitcher, or with similar speeds or not. Imo, damaged goods is all Kappy was....
 
ps, good trade all around. 59 mentioned his health, and such should be not ignored. But, regardless, he's looked good this year, in 014-015, and s/b a big asset to the Yanx...

Vandy SP, damn fine school for bb, pitchers, et al.

Gray was on the 15 day DL with a trapezius partial tear (ie strain) on Aug of 016, and wasn't rushed back. Gray didn't pitch again until Sept. 28th 016, in a 18 pitch inning, and that was it for 016.

Start of the ST season 017, Gray was sidelined for 3 weeks with a Lat muscle; starting the 017 season on the DL. Some say with the A's Gray's 016 yr was disatrous 5W-11Lm 5.69 ERA over 22 games. Sonny's first game pitched of 017 was on May 2nd, a 6ER loss on 5 hits, 3 of them HR's. (3 of his 8 on the year).

No doubt Gray can pitch and has shown as much this year, and prior years. IMO, it's safe to say: he's had a good year with a horrid offense/defensive team; adjusting back to his stride. He's on course imo to make a difference; on his A game with the Yanx....Here's to his health...

the 18th pick of the 1st round of 2011 draft, s/b fun watching him deliver....

...I wonder that since they've got a glut of starting pitching, if maybe the Yanx might try a 6 man rotation to give Tanaka and CC and Gray an extra day's rest?...just spitballing.
 
My Husband found me on the Couch with a box of cookies this morning and asked me if I was going to do anything productive today. I told him to make himself scarce. :rotfl:

have you looked at computers that talk back, esp when someone (not authorized) tries to turn it, he or she off, in my case my PC is a Ogre, and eats anyone who gets near it....

that never worked for me or my wife, since I did half the cooking- lol.

However there were other things she "wouldn't do", even more effective a protest...

as for "being found this am, on t/ couch with a box of cookies", now that imo, IS extremely productive....(chuckle) -
