Let's hear 'em. I know Noel is a favorite, but I don't actually think he would improve us much. He has great physical tools and he gets blocks and steals, but I think he's more like young DeAndre Jordan than current DeAndre Jordan (who is also nowhere near as good as lumberers like Bogut and Marc Gasol).

Quick fix: Ezeli and Vonleh for Tyson Chandler (it works, I've checked it).
Why would the Suns do it? Chandler made sense when they thought they'd sign Aldridge, but makes no sense to a young team who won't make the playoffs and have have Alex Len needing minutes.

Big move: Crabbe and Leonard for Wes and Bogut
Why would the Mavs do it? Nowitzki is done, and Wes and Bogut only made sense surrounding him on a playoff team. And Wes is way overpaid.
Why wouldn't the Mavs do it? Crabbe is also way overpaid. And Leonard is shit, whereas Bogut's deal will expire very soon and free up cap space, which Dallas, unlike Portland, can actually turn into a decent player.

After reading the thread title, and before reading the OP, my first response was "Tyson Chandler". So I support both Rasta and BGD's position in this thread.

I'd definitely trade Crabbe and Leonard for Bogut and Wes. Wes may never fully regain his old form, but his attitude is definitely something this team needs more of and Bogut trumps any of our other options at the 5.

I'm surprised no one's suggested Amir Johnson all year.

The dude is playing less that 20mpg in Boston. He has a career DBPM of 2.2, and can shoot all the way out to the 3-point line. He's expiring, so he could maybe be had for cheap.

I like a 3-way trade where:

BOS Gets:
2018 POR 1st
2020 BKN 2nd
2021 BKN 2nd
$12M Trade Exception

POR Gets:
Amir Johnson
Filler

BKN Gets:
Meyers Leonard
Festus Ezeli

Boston gets more assets (picks + trade exception) to trade for a big time player/good role players, Brooklyn gets a young piece in Leonard who would play immediately. We get some cap relief.

Our Lineup:
Lillard / McCollum
McCollum / Crabbe
Harkless / Turner
Johnson / Aminu
Plumlee / Davis

We could then work something like Vonleh, Napier, and a 1st for Noel and have a very underrated defensive frontline of Johnson/Noel, while having good defenders off the bench.

I like Amir but Ezeli, Leonard and a 1st for him plus scraps seems high for him.
We'd be getting the scraps. Ezeli is likely done for the season, so it's just to match salary and keep us under the cap. The CLE 1st will likely be 29th or 30th, so a very late 1st and Leonard is definitely worth it for Johnson IMO.

considering nards isn't worth jack, absolutely!

Yes, at this point, just to get rid of Leonard's contract, it would be worth it, even if we got no players back.

10m per is pretty much a bench player's salary nowadays, Leonard will not be hard to move. There's still talent there and teams will always believe they can get the best out of a player. Just don't expect much of a return, which I'm ok with.

Eddie Sefko (Dallas Morning News) on 620am this morning says Bogut would likely be available for a first-round pick, and would be a great addition in Portland if we're OK with him only playing 20-24 mpg.

CJ+Aminu+Ezeli expiring (I believe it's a team option) contract+ Top 8 protected 2017 1st round pick for Jabari Parker and John Henson? Would be a HUGE shake up though.

Call me a homer but I think CJ and Aminu's great contract has more value than that especially if we are the one giving the pick.

But doesn't matter though. CJ has less than 1% chance of being traded before this summer.

I think it's a fair price, Jabari is going to be the best player of the deal and Henson is locked up to a great contract and is basically Nerlens Noel.

The way we're playing, the 1st round pick might be a really good one.

I've really been impressed with Dieng's defense and scoring for the Wolves...the guy is a shot blocking beast with a decent stroke from midrange and plays hard on the defensive side of the court

Bogut would be ok, if we were one piece away, but we're not, so he's not. We need someone younger.

And if we're going for an older guy, I'd much rather have Tyson chandler.

I've mentioned his name several times in several threads. He would instantly help us at the 4/5 spots as he can play both.

yeah, if we give up assets a 32 yr old stopgap injury prone C is not the answer
