The Portland Trail Blazers landed in a group with the Memphis Grizzlies, Phoenix Suns, Utah Jazz and Los Angeles Lakers for the NBA’s first in-season tournament.
The NBA on Tuesday announced the schedule for the tournament, set to begin Nov. 3 and wrapping up with the championship game on Dec. 9.
The league will be divided into six groups of five teams. Each team will face the other teams within its group once, with the top eight teams then qualifying for the knockout rounds.
The tournament includes $18 million in prize money. Players on the championship team will receive $500,000 each. Players on the second-place team will receive $200,000 apiece.
Players on the two teams that lose in the semifinals will receive $100,000 apiece and the players on the teams that lose in the quarterfinals will receive $50,000.
