The host introduced two presenters (Chris Pine and ?) as being members of the “1977 Portland Trail Blazers team that won the NBA Championship.” It turns out Ian Karmel was one of the writers so that explains the reference but the joke didn’t make sense.

That's actually a pretty good joke, you (and I'm guessing others) didn't know the name of the presenter with Chris Pine, and most people can't name a person on the 1977 NBA Championship Team.
