Terry Stotts says they're taking a philosophical approach to offense right now. Says it'll be another wk or so b4 implementing real offense.

Too many carbs and Orange juice is just as bad as soda for sugar. Steak and eggs and fruit, YES!

When you're as active as Batum is it doesn't really matter and those carbs are probably necessary. For someone who is sitting at a desk all day, yes, I agree.

Surprising that MB hasn't released a blog post about the first few days of camp.

(His glowing camp report)

Stotts said he is taking much of the offense Adelman ran in Sacramento for our offense

A. Is this true/serious

B. Who did he get the offense from, I mean is this just based off tape watching Sacto or do we have an assistant who worked under Adelman as well?

A. True

B. I'm not sure. It sounded more like tape. He said that of all the successful teams he enjoyed watching them the most, so he is implementing a lot of that offense

Great! If we can turn Babbitt into Peja, LMA into Webber, Leonard into a Brad Miller/Vlade clone, have Wes assume the Doug Christie role (without Jackie) and keep Lillard from turning into too much of a Bibby, then we've got Pure Gold, Jerry!

YAY!!!@!

There are a TON of offensive options.
Aldridge on if the offense is more complex than in the past: “Yes, it is. [laughs] I’m not tryin’ to throw anybody under the bus, but yes it is. It’s definitely a lot harder to pick up, there’s a lot more options, a lot more movement. I feel like now teams can’t really lock in on me anymore. I feel like I get a one-on-one play, elbow, block or whatever. He [Stotts] has organized chaos a little bit, go fast but guys have lanes, guys have positions to run to so that’s good... A lot of movement, I’m actually having my own problems ‘cause it’s so many options, so may reads, so I think it’s gonna be big for us this year having better movement out there.”

Damian Lillard on the the offensive system: “It’s a really natural offense. It’s a nice motion offense where it’s kinda like everybody is in a flow. I feel like we can all be effective in it. It’s a lot of pick-and-rolls and everything turns into a hand off or a pass to the wing, a screen-and-roll, that’s what I love to do. For a big man you roll and back-screen and popping out, so it’s probably more complicated for them, but I’m a point guard so plays I naturally pick up on them because I need to know.”

throw him under the bus LaMarcus, throw him!

what is this "motion offense", "movement" and "lanes and reads" that you speak of?!?

Not namin' names...... but my "inside" source told me today that Nic is looking great. Trust this man's opinion. Said he just looks amazing out there. We'll see.

He already did. Here it is.

Nicolas Batum answering questions:

What have you noticed about Damian Lillard?
"He's gonna surprise a lot of people. He's good, he's fast, he knows the game. And the other thing was he's such a good passer. He can pass the ball well. I didn't know that."

What's stood out about Lillard?
"When he wants to drive, he's going to drive. He reminds me of like a (Russell) Westbrook or (Derrick Rose) kind of player. ... explosive."

Ok, I'm now giddy about how his season will be.

damnit.

Stotts talking about not liking isos, while incorporating a more motion, faster offense is freakin awesome. Hope this actually materializes. It seems like every team in the nba says they're gonna play faster during training camp.

We've suffered for how many years under Cheeks and McMillen with boring, stagnant offense, and being near the bottom of the league in FB points. So many fans saw it, and even the players have all but flat out said it. Nice to see some change! We can at least have some fun, even if we lose.

What does that have to do with this? You are arguing just to argue.

I thought it was about what a injury has rob us of, or which type and while we might have got more if not for the injuries you mention I think we were more assured of at least another title if Walton's feet injuries didn't happen.

Sorry if I miss the point or just making one reply to many for you.

Those teams, with Webber, Vlade and Miller had some of the best interior passing I have ever seen. If Stotts can bring that to Portland, this will be a very fun team to watch.

Let's hope it is more like that than the passing with Maglorie, Bogut, Redd and Ford. :D

I've never seen someone hit so many shots in my face in my life,” Freeland said referring to LaMarcus Aldridge. “I'm doing everything I can to stop him. I'm even touching the ball when he's shooting it and it still goes in. LaMarcus is at another level of play. I'm going to learn from him, I'm going to watch the way he plays and hopefully pick up whatever he has.”

That was all the motivation Freeland needed to get out of some bad habits.

Aldridge didn't say a word to Freeland in order for him to change his ways. There was no “Joel, you need to pick it up” or “Stop being lazy, Joel.” Aldridge just destroyed him on the court and Freeland got the message.

“I have to step my game up now,” Freeland said. “I'm not the kind of person that's going to come over here and sit back and relax. I'm never going to be that kind of guy. I'm a guy that goes out and tries to prove myself everyday on the court and to help a team win.”

Those are some pretty honest and self-critical quotes there. Obviously, you'd love to read that he destroyed Aldridge, but that ain't happening in the real world.

Reminds you just how good Aldridge is. I think a lot of fans just take him for granted, given our long history with quality power forwards. The idea of him being unsaddled from grind-it-out low-post-only McMillan ball is damned exciting.
