Travis Outlaw - All Defensive Team

Thank god. You have to be crazy to run for the house. It was supposed to be a good humored jab at Eric. If he objects - I will retract - but I did not get a vibe from him that he can not make fun of himself.

I understand, I just thought the jab a little too hard.

Fair enough. Eric - if this was too hard - please tell me. I thought it was in good fun. Someone called me a dumb ass on this forum yesterday - and I did not get upset - because I did not think it was malicious - but your point is well taken. A problem of the medium, I suppose - if I said something like that in a pub to Eric - I am sure he would have known I am just having fun - it is hard to convey the manner you say things on the internet.

If Outlaw got a vote for DF player of year, then Bayless should have gotten a vote for 6th man of the year.:drumroll:

Outlaw isn't the worst defender on the team but he certainly doesn't deserve any recognition for his defense.

Somebody in the league values the work Outlaw does defensively. I'll take that opinion over the hordes on boards like this that think they know better than people who actually work in the league.

Did you also believe that Swirsky's Bargnani-over-Roy for R.O.Y. was a more prescient and reasoned vote than the hordes on the board? He worked in the league also.

I'd submit that some people on here are more connected and more basketball-savvy than many people in the league or NBA writers. I'm not one of them, though you better believe I know more about the Blazers than, say, JA Adande does. And he gets paid for it.

He wasn't a head coach in the league at the time of his vote. Read up on who actually voted for the All-defensive teams, then get back to me.

You didn't say coaches, you said "somebody in the League". I don't care about this vote, I care about your broad generalization that if someone "works in the league" they know more and are better able to assign value to players than the "hordes on boards like this".

I brought up Swirsky b/c it was a vote by someone who worked in the league for a post-season award, who I don't believe got it right or knows any more about the players on my team and their relative worth vis-a-vis another player than I do. And I'm not even propping myself up as one "in the know".

I don't need your condescension, PapaG. But my question still stands--do you also believe that Swirsky's Bargnani-over-Roy for R.O.Y. was a more prescient and reasoned vote than the hordes on the board?

It's apples and oranges, and it has nothing to do with the hysterical and overblown whining about Outlaw's defense, or Outlaw in general, on this board.

Somebody is being extremely, extremely ironic.

Or they think it's Bo Outlaw.

Sadly this makes more sense than Travis receiving an actual vote. Travis can't keep his man in front of him on defense very well, and all in all he's not a very good man on man defender.

a coach voted him as one of the 4 best defensive forwards in the nba? him thinking bo outlaw is the ONLY explanation.

i love trout and all but wowsa.

Actually, I think the knee-jerk reactions by Outlaw jock-riders are more unappealing, personally.

You seem to be claiming that he deserved to be on the second team all-defense, for goodness sakes!

Ed O.

This year first team is a joke. Chris Paul??!! Kobe?(love Kobe, but he doesnt play D consistently enough to be here)really?

Basically, the second all-D team is better than the first. No lie.
