Good stuff heh.

nice to see him working on his handle and left handed finish... he really has improved his ball skills considerably since he first arrived.

loving the left handed finishes and those little floater/runner things

Travis reminds me of Oden: lanky with incredible hops, but also clumsy and ungainly. So the fact that Travis can make such progress on offense is encouraging for Oden. It is a little bit unfortunate that all he can really work on in this setting is offense, because he already had a pretty much unstoppable jumper, but his problem is defense and team play. He and Bayless are both working to become stars of their own little teams. Maybe we can send this video to a team with a spare PF and a crying shortage of scorers.

Nice floater, and a far better handle than he's ever shown. Plus he was able to do a lot of it without making any sound. He must be able to go into "whisper mode" like Blue Thunder.

That free throw in the beginning is AWSOME! Swish!!

Seriously though, do these guys pay for the trainers with their own money or does the team pay for them?

Boy, that dates you. I can't believe I actually saw that in the theater.

Also, are you visiting your in-laws, or do you really get up this early in Idaho?

I'm kind of amazed at the nice facilities they have there in Starkville. I was kind of expecting milk crates nailed to trees. Does that make me a no-good Northern Elitist? Yes, yes it does.

What is that thing that Travis throws to the trainer about halfway through as he's dribbling up court - looks like a little hacky-sack or something? Is that to make him dribble with his off hand?

Nice to see Travis working on a spinning off ballance shot. That is something he doesn't have now.....er wait.

My wife and I joke about it some times. The thing we've never been able to figure out is why would you ever turn "whisper mode" off? I mean, how often have you been around a helicopter and thought, "Dang, it's a good thing this is loud."

I wish everything had whisper mode. Lawn mowers, dogs, kids, Republicans....

6:30 am here in mountain time. Not that early. Although to be fair, I usually don't start drinking before 9.

If he masters that floater to go along with his ability to already hit the three and the pull up mid range shot........Dude will be hard to stop. I would love to see a second team of Blake, Rudy, Batum, Travis and Joel. Sure Travis will have a hard time guarding bigger "SKILLED bruising" second team PF's.....but they won't be able to stay with Travis and how many really are there?

it's a very short list. Paul Milsap springs to mind, but he may be a full time starter shortly if Boozer is dealt as expected. From the West, McDyess Gooden and Carl Landry are the best examples I can come up with... is anyone really shaking in their boots over the possibility of Drew Gooden killing the Blazers next year?

If he's big on getting that nice contract, he'll have a great season and become a nice trading piece come February. I don't think he'll get the kind of money he wants from us, but he could be a valuable asset to another team.

Lookin' good.....Now let's see if this transfers to the court, when we need it.

Isn't Travis notorious for not working out in the off season. Maybe Travis is trying to change from being Mr. 4th quarter to Mr. Consistent. :dunno:

Travis has shown he can play at a high level against the tough competition during crunch time. If he can produce quarter to quarter, he could suprise some posters on this board.

Not saying that because of the workout I watched (nothing special to me). . . mor about the fact he is working out in the off season.

This video might have been put out to confront that myth. TO not working out much in the offseason is what people not in the know have speculated, but didn't the whole team get together and practice for weeks prior to training camp? I recall quotes from Brandon on how everybody looked in great shape for the start of that. I'm not an in the know poster either, but I'd speculate that most every healthy player takes some time off to let their bodies recover from the season grind, but are back at it with trainers after a month or so... the teams have too much invested to not make sure this happens.

Travis does have asthma though and reportedly it's at it's worst in the fall. Breathing issues certainly aren't a plus for an athlete, but it's not something that he can be blamed for like being lazy.

Meh. Nobody guarding him. Big fucking deal.

If I see him take a NBA player off the dribble and finish at the rim with the left hand through on-the-ball defense and help defense, I'll be impressed. Not to mention he needs to show me he's a better rebounder and defender.

I'd take Batum and a fresh-off-a-foot-injury Martell over Travis any day.

Travis has the basketball IQ of Ha Seung-Jin's toenail. That will never change. No amount of weight-lifting, full-court drills, etc., is going to make that man figure out how to box out or how to not shy away from contact or how to know what defensive set we're running. He's been in the league six years and he's still as dumb as that gangly kid out of high school we drafted.

He's had his chance. Move the fucker for something valuable.

I understand the asthma issue, but I think the "laziness in the offseason" comes from the reporting that Travis hasn't passed Nate's physical at the start of training camp for (iirc) 3 years now. And he's the only one.

I had a great photo of the board from last year's M&G that showed all the times. Travis didn't even finish the last sprint. I'll try to find that tonight.

I certainly appreciate that Travis is working this summer and trying to improve. But one thought ran through my mind as I watched the video - everything I saw was an indication that he could/should be a better 1-on-1 player this season. Is that disturbing at all to anyone else?

New ways to score. New ways to dribble to be able to get in a position to score.

I'm not claiming that this 4 minute video shows the sum of all that Travis is working on this year. I am saying that this video shows me nothing new in terms of him potentially helping others become better. Is he working on rebounding? Is he working on setting picks? Is he working on defense? Or on passing? Or has his entire summer regimen been all about improved dribbling to be able to go around defenders and developing a better float shot?

I hope that this video is not comprehensive. But my fear is that it is more comprehensive than I'm comfortable with.

asthma limits the ability to breath, sprinting requires breathing. How exactly are you understanding the asthma issue?

If I remember correctly, Travis was one of the few guys that didn't show up early with everyone else last season. I'm pretty sure it was in an Oregonian article. I wonder if we can still find it.
