My staff of 20 message board writers ran off. I lost the password years ago to my router, and it keeps disconnecting for a couple of months. I'm on a hot spot right now.

Watford plays all frontline positions. Dribbler, outpowers defenders for forceful unstoppable layups. Undrafted due to quickness, but strength more than compensates. Theory for why he was cut: Maybe Mike Schmitz dislikes that skill combination. Incomprehensible cut for a low-paid guy on whom we depend. Makes me think of Ed Davis.
I appreciate this post, even though it contains no reference to Kesey or LSD.
Can we count on you to compose the new G league team's game threads?
I'm afraid that HCP guy might do it.
Go remix!

He'd be playing behind Grant, Walker, and Kris. So, he's a 4th string PF. He was also 3rd string C. We have multiple backup C's we're looking at.

Before you, or anyone else, asks, Walker is a much better rebounder, and we REALLY need rebounding - that's why Walker is ahead of him.
Probably 4th string center.

Someone, anyone, please explain.

we have several options:

A) Cronin faithful; Blazers are in super duper win now mode. Trendon sucks, Jabari is 10x better, and the Blazers are about to add the most superior athletes in the NBA to this team.

B) Trendon was out there trying to win games when the Blazers desperately needed to lose for Scoot. That's a violation of direct orders... your fired.

C) the Blazers are making cuts for the massive influx of players acquired in a Damian Lillard trade.

D) Watford was projected to get as much playing time as Blevins, after having a decent role in the past 1 1/2 seasons.

B made me laugh out loud. Thanks.

If Watford was going to see any rotation minutes this year, we were going to be in a world of hurt. He played hard - but we sure didn't win many games he had big minutes in.

Yeah, we didn't win many games when he played big minutes but look who he was playing with during those times. I do think he would have looked better playing with the 1s team. Having said that his greatest asset was pushing it down the court as a point forward. But if he was to play with Scoot on the 2nd team it is not as much of a need...as opposed to Ant

I’m guessing it might come down to redundancy Winslow and Watford do the same thing on the court and WHEN healthy Winslow is better and a vet

Maybe Cronin saw he wasn't going to get any playing time and wanted to give Watford a chance to play somewhere else.
Cronin is an NBA executive, hired to make the owner big bucks. Joe is very good at his job. Showing compassion to players needs to take a back seat in order to become a top money making GM.

Who suggested this is a front-burner issue??

I'm not upset about him being waived. Won't be upset if they bring him back. He is what he is. And he didn't really get much better from 1st year to 2nd.

Probably a reason why he wasn't drafted.

Like a lot of people in this thread, I have no problem with Trendon being waived. I just find the timing of it weird.

I wonder if the timing on this is a favor to an agent kind of thing. Usually you don't release a guy until you have to. Example: we knew we weren't keeping Greg Brown long term relatively early in the season. But we didn't release him until we made an unbalanced trade and needed his roster spot.

Maybe it's similar with Trendon where we think we're gonna need his roster spot in the not too distant future and his agent got ahead of it a but and said, if you're gonna waive him, please waive him before free agency starts so we can maybe squeeze ourselves onto a team with capspace to burn.

Today was last day before his deal became guaranteed - today or never.

It was actually coming around, and the third year is the year when it typically happens. Something is up...
I agree. He was developing nicely. The NBA is weird as far as the Cap goes. Teams like LA, Phoenix, and Golden State can continue to do gymnastics with the cap, and not blink an eye. Trendon , Best wishes and God Bless.

I haven't noticed that as a macro trend. What I have noticed is that teams often take flyers on young guys with upside and on cheap deals to see what they've got for a season or two before deciding if they want to go forward. I like Trendon and will continue to root for him. His size/length made him intriguing and his attitude seemed great, but they just added two new young forwards (with contracts) to the roster. There is always the possibility that they didn't really believe in his upside happening for reasons we're not privy to.

Maybe you'll turn out to be right, but I'm guessing this move is for mundane reasons.

STOMP

Definitely not the kind of guy you want on a rebuilding team !

It is weird. He was never going to be a starter but was a good back up who could play the 4 and 5 in a pinch. He played the right way and seemed to be a leader of the younger guys. Will be interesting where he ends up and if anything ever comes out.

Still not a single reasonable explanation for this move.
I wouldn't do it, necessarily, but it seems like there is an explanation--he hasn't (as far as I've seen yet) been linked by anyone for even the vet minimum. It may be that the team cleared a spot and cap hold, and are standing by if he's still there for a min contract in a few weeks after the smoke clears from Dame.
