Bernard didn't kill anyone. He was party to a car jacking. The people in the car were killed, but he did not kill them. He wasn't there when they were abducted. Younger accomplices who committed worse acts got more lienent sentences. The jury that convicted him were almost all white. There are questions of racism with the prosecutor.

Bernard deserved to serve prison time for his crime, but he did not deserve to die.

Sorry, I think you're extremely confused. dviss was told to "take breath" for his response to El Presidente's post (#5). El Presidente was absolutely attempting to be provocative about the execution, that's his entire gimmick here.

You are confused. I said that it's condescending to tell someone to take a breath about justified anger. That justified anger was his response to El Presidente, which is what he was told to take a breath about. El Presidente's post, the one that dviss reacted angrily to and then was told to calm down, is the one I called provocative.

After Todd Bagley "agreed to give a ride to several of Bernard’s accomplices, they pointed a gun at him, forced him and Stacie into the trunk of their car, and drove the couple around for hours while attempting to steal their money and pawn Stacie’s wedding ring."

The couple talked about God and pleaded for their lives while locked in the trunk. Eventually, the group parked at Fort Hood military reservation, and Bernard and an accomplice doused the car with lighter fluid.

"After Stacie said, “Jesus loves you,” and “Jesus, take care of us,” one of the accomplices shot both Todd and Stacie in the head - killing Todd and knocking Stacie unconscious. Bernard then lit the car on fire, killing Stacie through smoke inhalation," according to the DOJ.

The article I read said they were burned dead in that car....not alive....this is a topic of controversy so false facts don't bring clarity....the young kid who lit the car on fire burned two dead people killed by his partner....both were shot in the head....this kid was destroying the evidence, not burning anyone alive consciously. That's why I don't believe the death penalty was warranted in his case. Life is tough for many folks these days...it's ok if you want to call me a wimp for listening to dviss views on racial profiling....won't stop me from listening...dviss walks the walk...try it...you might learn something beyond some Portland is liberal stereotype.....I haven't lived in Portland for 21 years
