(CNN)The Trump campaign is considering putting resources into Oregon, CNN has learned, a state where Hillary Clinton beat the President by 11 percentage points in 2016.

In fact, Oregon is so blue that it has not voted for a Republican for president since 1984. But the Trump campaign is flush with cash and is looking for ways to spend its money and time wisely while Democrats duke it out for the chance to run against President Donald Trump.

CNN obtained a memo to the Trump campaign from pollster Tony Fabrizio about ideas for "expanding the map" to give the President more options for getting the 270 electoral votes needed to win the re-election, where he mentions looking at Oregon.

In the memo, Fabrizio maintains that New Hampshire, New Mexico and Nevada -- all states that Trump lost in 2016 -- are now "highly competitive." Those are three states where the Trump campaign already has resources on the ground.

Same goes for Minnesota, another state where Clinton beat Trump in 2016, but Fabrizio says to "keep an eye on" this cycle.

Oregon, however, is no-man's-land for the national GOP. The last Republican to make an early play for Oregon was George W. Bush during his 2004 reelection bid, since he had come within 8,000 votes of Al Gore there in 2000. But Bush lost Oregon to John Kerry by 4 percentage points.

Still, a senior Trump campaign source tells CNN that they are considering hiring staff to "test the waters" in Oregon after hearing from Fabrizio and talking to National Republican Congressional Committee counterparts. The committee is also hoping to recruit a strong GOP candidate to challenge longtime Democratic Rep. Peter DeFazio.

To be sure, the Trump campaign is under no illusion that Oregon is winnable at this point, but they also know that re-taking states such as Pennsylvania, Michigan or even Iowa, where the President is traveling on Tuesday, are hardly sure bets.

"If we are a month out and a previous victory like Michigan is not possible, would be nice to know other states are options," said the senior adviser.

Plus, the Trump team knows from experience that pushing against the grain can pay off. When they spent money in the Wisconsin and Michigan in 2016 and sent their candidate there, many thought it was a fool's errand, until Trump turned those states red for the first time in a generation.

Oregon is now represented in the governor's mansion, the Senate and all but one House seat by Democrats. Still, an Oregon Republican Party source insists there is an "undercurrent" of dissatisfaction with the Democratic Party thanks to increasingly unaffordable housing in the cities, crime and homelessness among other problems.

An Oregon Democratic Party official insists that Trump doesn't stand a chance in their state.

"It makes sense that the GOP would be interested in refurbishing their reputation out here. Their party has championed putting kids in cages, taking health care away from working families and defiling the Constitution. This is not the Oregon way," said Molly Woon, deputy director of the Oregon Democratic Party. "They're welcome to visit, but they should be prepared for an icy reception from Oregon voters."

Not surprisingly, the Oregon Republican Party is eager for the national party to invest there for 2020.

"Every day Oregonians can see that President Trump is taking on the big problems and making the economy a huge success. This provides a powerful contrast between the policies we hear about from the 2020 Democratic presidential field, and the promises kept and success delivered by President Trump. Oregon continues to be home to a growing number of forgotten men and women, especially in rural Oregon, a major theme of his campaign since 2016," said Kevin Hoar, communications director for the Oregon Republican Party.

Bring it on.

This just means he's moving his daughter Tiffany to Oregon....as far from New York as possible

I would guess its in response to this electoral college = popular vote movement. Put money in states who are going to go by the popular vote, changing local elections in the process. Like I stated, this will backfire on the dems when they change the rules to try to win at all costs since GOP will target blue states (and larger population areas as well).

Hopefully it will mean that candidates actually campaign here. Last election only Trump and Bernie held campaign rallies. Hillary just flew in twice for private cash grabs from rich donors. If the Trump campaign thinks Oregon is in play then the other candidates will have to give a fuck about us.

there...that's more like it

The govt should pump money into Oregonian resources ...we're closer to N Korea for those Trump meetings...plenty of translators here as well....Hell I can almost see Russia from my ridgecap…......well not quite

I wish we spent less money on buying voters and more many spent making the lives of our citizens better.

Sadly neither party is even trying to change their corrupt ways. Unlike the republicans, the democrats are at least being forced to change by some newer members. So maybe there is hope that one day the corruption will end.

Personally I don't care for party titles, I just want action. The party member who is running for president, from either party, that turns away from wall street so that the rest of America can live the "American Dream" instead of getting butt fucked by corporations and the ultra rich (with the help from our very own government), will get my vote.

This does not actually make sense - the measures don't go into effect unless/until 270 votes worth of states have enacted them. So for the 2020 election, electoral votes will be earned in the same way they've been for decades, no change.

Its more to test the waters to see what kind of changes will happen. Or perhaps they see a growing Patriot Prayer population or segment that will vote red and think they can swing it.

See yall at the rallies I guess!

Nah.. Black people get assaulted at those. And then Trump offers to pay their legal fees...

Did Donald Trump Encourage Violence at His Rallies?

TRUMP TOLD WHITE SUPREMACISTS TO ATTACK PROTESTERS, SO THEY DID

President Donald Trump's comments on dealing with protesters are coming back to haunt him after the violence that broke out Saturday at a white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia. The clashes between Nazis and counterprotesters left three people dead, including one anti-fascist demonstrator who was killed when a man rammed his car into the group she was with.

The president, whose initial statement about the rally was criticized for failing to mention racism, now finds comments he made about attacking protesters being revisited. Throughout his election campaign, Trump appeared to encourage violence toward anti-Trump protesters who showed up at his rallies, telling crowds of people that protesters should be escorted out more roughly, and offering to pay the legal fees of any of his fans who attacked them.

"If you see somebody getting ready to throw a tomato, knock the crap out of them, would you? Seriously, OK? Just knock the hell... I promise you I will pay for the legal fees. I promise, I promise," Trump said at an Iowa rally on February 1, 2016.

At another event, Trump suggested police should be more violent with people they removed from his rallies. “You see, in the good old days, law enforcement acted a lot quicker than this,” Trump said at a rally in Oklahoma City, The New York Times reported, as security moved toward a protester.

“A lot quicker. In the good old days, they'd rip him out of that seat so fast. But today everyone is so politically correct. Our country is going to hell—we're being politically correct,” he added.

His comments are now being recalled in the wake of the violence in Charlottesville, with Democratic U.S. Representative Maxine Walters tweeting on Monday: “Don't forget, Trump offered to pay legal fees for those who attacked protesters at his rallies. Will he be making that same offer now?”

She added: “Trump defined himself during campaign. He encouraged violence against protesters at rallies. We should not be surprised. ‪#Charlottesviille”

In a tweet from Vets Against Trump, the group referenced Republican legislation that protects drivers who run over protesters in their car. The so-called common-sense legislation protects drivers “exercising due care” if they hit someone who is protesting and blocking traffic from civil liability; it does not, however, apply to a person who intentionally runs into someone.

Did he pay their legal fees

Ha!

The loud mouth got punched in the mouth! Imagine that!

He might want to check what rally he is in next time before running the mouth!

Ha!
Practice Prudence.

I fail to find any humor in any assault like this...freedom of speech is not a "punch me" green light. Loudmouths more often than not are hard of hearing they say....sucker punchers are cowards

Trump would never get Oregon, it's bluer than Cookie Monster's balls

Our government will alwaya be corrupt. That is the American way

Corrupt yes, but currently the corruption in our congress is so bad that our democracy is at risk. Hell most of our presidential candidates are establishment, even if they aren't they still won't get into the white house without establishment approval. Trump wasn't quite establishment, but they knew he was on their side. Same as when Obama won, he wasn't establishment, but like Trump they knew he was working for them.

This corruption needs to end. Our presidents shouldn't be bought and paid for by anyone....

Trump sure knows how to waste money.
I think he's the king of wasting government money on himself.
Mirror (Ted Cruz) mirror (Ted Cruz) on the wall, who's the fairest of them all.
Mirror (Ted Cruz) replies with "you are".

Well I see the house is being listed by my buddies realty company. Wonder if he can work me a little better deal. I see it was just lowered 200,000k. Just need about another 4mil reduction.
It started under another realty company at $8.25 Million then it went to $4 Million and now it's up to $4.25 Million. After it reached $4.25 Million it switched real estate companies. It's been for sale for something like 2 or 3 years now. Something ain't right.
You buddy owns Hasson? Their office in Lake Oswego sits right where my aunt and uncle had their business back in the mid 60s to mid 70s in the Lake Grove district of Lake Oswego.
