Politics Trump conspired with Fox News to create the retracted Seth Rich story

That will be a disaster. I've had different plans at work over the years. The jump through hoops shit just makes people say fuck it and ignore their health issues.

You were just lauding the "jump through hoops shit" that insurance companies do.

Uhm, how do you know?

barfo
Been to the DMV?

Been to the social security administration office?

Been anywhere government is in charge?

I suppose I can't know how bad it will be just like I don't know how bad sticking my junk in a running blender will hurt without trying it.

Nope, got off the government type plan (HMO) the first chance I got. My doctor now can order tests and send me to specialists in my network without much grief. Some things they just won't pay for without my doctor doing some work proving it necessary.

Had a horrific test done last year that cost me 50 bucks out of pocket and I didn't have to wait months to get approved. A few years ago it would have taken months.

It's how I found out I couldn't eat gluten and that I didn't have colon cancer.

I think that says more about you than about single payer.

And it would be a better fit.

It's not clear to me why doctors (other than you) would be more inclined to cheat the government than they currently are to cheat the insurance companies?

barfo

I think it says a lot about doctors. Most are in it for the money. They sure do bill big bucks.

The doctors do cheat the insurance companies. Or the patients if they're paying.

If I'm a doctor under single payer, I want to get paid over and over again. For procedures needed or not.

Good to know you joined the profession to help people. Strange as it may seem, some doctors actually are like that. You'll have to imagine REALLY hard on this one, Denny.

Or I'd quit and become a lawyer so I could make the same money as I did before.
You can just do that? Quit and become a lawyer? Fuck, sign me up!

Tillerson represents us well. Have you seen him speak? He's knowledgable about foreign affairs, and he simply represents us well.

Mattis has been given free reign to run military operations. ISIS is basically toast already.

The media wing of the democrat party is trying to make a big deal about Trump's budget only yielding $3.3T in deficit reduction because CBO assumes 1.9% GDP growth instead of something closer to the 3% that is normal. That's on Mnuchin and others in his cabinet. They've also passed and signed budget resolutions in congress, in spite of the narrative that nothing's getting done.

Ross is leading initiatives to make our trade pacts more fair. I think you can also look at foreign investment in the US, like iPhone manufacturing plants to be built here, as his accomplishments.

Rick Perry comes across as a buffoon. Yet he seems to be really good at actual governing. He's been pushing for "energy dominance" by the US. He's cut deals to export energy to Ukraine and other nations. He's been pretty solid about backing clean coal, nuclear, and other clean energy initiatives. XL Pipeline won't hurt, either.

Carson is revising HUD regulations that direct money to rich cities like San Francisco so the cities that can better use the federal grant money get more.

Specifics.

To say Trump has made no good hires or that he has no good cabinet members is simply wrong.

Yet, Trumps approval rating is now at 33%

Explain what they are doing that pleases you so.

Haha. Asks question, gets legit answer and then says......but polling!

Did you have that pre pulled for when you got your answer or does it smell better if you leave it inserted until ready to use?

Funny thing is the Quinnipiac poll was 40% or over a month earlier, and in the mid 30s a month prior to that. All over the place. But 33%!!!

I wonder how his 401K is doing.

Well the answers were really pretty weak. Along the lines of 'I like Rex Tillerson just listen to him speak'....

I remember the Obama bashers on this board CONSTANTLY bringing up his polling numbers when he was in office.

What is Trump getting accomplished?

The guy has been an epic failure, even though his party has control of Congress and the Senate. He's getting nothing done. Essentially, why most people who voted for him are regretting their vote.

Where's this brilliant health care resolve? How many years have the Republican's had to put something together?

No wall. That aint happening.

Shit, he even sucks at trying to block Muslims from traveling to the US.

I guess, its hard to get stuff done when you're too pre-occupied with waging a war against those bozo's in the media.

Obama could have cured cancer and had a lot of people hate him too. Not a good argument.

If you listened to Republicans for all this time and thought they had a clue on how to fix Obamacare you're pretty gullible.

It's single payer or go back to the old way and pass some basic guidelines to control price fixing.

What other option is there? Besides stick with Obamacare and hope it somehow doesn't explode in our face.

Clinton was awful as Secretary of State. Blathered, travelled a lot and didn't get much done (if anything). In contrast, Kerry was outstanding - Cuba relations, Iran nuke treaty (as bad as it may have been, he got it done), etc. It matters how the person speaks. His statements about North Korea are both forceful and open to better relations. I don't think it can be handled any better.

My answers were not weak.

VA style health care. Government builds hospitals and hires the doctors, buys equipment and medicines, etc. They collect a fee for each procedure.

No insurance involved. Competes with the private sector, but doesn't regulate it or seek to punish it.

There's your other option.

and the wheels on the bus go round and round, round and round, round and round

She was. No democrat could name any of her accomplishments during the campaign. It's relevant to the discussion about Secretary of State Tillerson's performance, which has been outstanding.

just a reminder...N Korea was not shooting missles off like popcorn and Iran wasn't escalating it's nuclear program under the last administration...since Trump they've all basically said fuck it......two steps backward....we've succeeded under Trump in unifying China, Russia, N Korea and Iran while weakening our relations with Australia, Mexico, Canada and Europe.......maybe you think this is winning because Wall Street is profiting short term now

The good thing I've seen from this administration is the rounding up gang members in Long Island.......credit where credit is due...this needed to be addressed.

You're wrong about NKorea and Iran and China. Russia is of the media's and democrats' making. Demonizing them to no end, regardless of merit to the claims.

Who's paying?

People pay when they go to the clinic or doctor's office or whatever.

Works like the post office. People pay for stamps, which funds the operations. Fees might be a little higher for the basic stuff to offset cost of the major stuff.

For poor people who really need help, there's already welfare programs that could adapt to providing assistance.

This set up gives government incentive to control costs. There's no profit motive whatsoever in the government run care providers. Doctors would be paid salary instead of per surgery, for one way of cost control.

If you have insurance, use it as normal. If you want to pay cash to a doctor yourself, feel free. If you don't and get sick, go to the government system and get care at cost or less. If you want birth control, a checkup, or whatever, go see the government HMO.

From a not right-wing source (I read it yesterday):

Trump Has Quietly Accomplished More Than It Appears
The chaos, legislative fumbling, and legal jeopardy should not obscure the ways that the administration is remaking federal policy in consequential ways.
Apparently you think this is actually a good thing. "Consequential ways" don't automatically mean "good ways". I'm glad I don't live in DennyWorld. I don't handle darkness well.......

Apparently.

I think he's accomplished things. That was the question asked. Not whether I approve of which ones. Some I do approve of, some I don't. The ones I don't are significant, too.

Thanks for the insult.

Here's an accomplishment I like. He ended one of Obama's wars. Or at least our participation in it.

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/08/02/world/middleeast/cia-syria-rebel-arm-train-trump.html

During a White House briefing early last month, the C.I.A. director, Mike Pompeo, recommended to President Trump that he shut down a four-year-old effort to arm and train Syrian rebels. The president swiftly ended the program.

The rebel army was by then a shell, hollowed out by more than a year of bombing by Russian planes and confined to ever-shrinking patches of Syria that government troops had not reconquered. Critics in Congress had complained for years about the costs — more than $1 billion over the life of the program — and reports that some of the C.I.A.-supplied weapons had ended up in the hands of a rebel group tied to Al Qaeda further sapped political support for the program.
