Dallas County, Texas, has used county wide voting since 2019. Meant a person could vote anywhere in the county.
Republicans changed the rules this year. People had to vote in their precinct. State web site that was supposed to inform voters where they should vote contained inaccurate information. People waited in long lines only to be told they were in wrong place. So a judge issued an emergency order allowing county voting in primary. Ken Paxton, ultra right attorney general and Republican candidate, late in the day, went to all Republican state Supreme Court to get order overturned. Thousands of Dallas County voters had their ballots moved to separate piles where they might or might not be counted. Thousands more turned away. One 60 year old lady walked two miles to vote and was told she was in wrong place. All this minutes before polls closed. No time to get to correct polling place even if they could figure out where it was.
A tight Democratic primary, Dallas County is Jasmine Crockett home turf. She had hoped strong support would close gap between herself and eventually winner James Talarico. Maybe, maybe not. But disenfranchising her voters makes it harder for him to win them over, creates division in Democratic party. And discourages voter turnout.

Call it a dress rehearsal for November. And 2028.
