you just don't get it....I'm from an Iowa dairy farming community...most of my family wear cowboy hats and drink beer...none want to join armed protests against the govt.....left my ass....bad behavior has nothing to do with partisan politics....you need to really look at things from a realistic perspective instead of a political spin....it's a fact that if this were a native American protest or a civil rights protest say in urban Chicago...nobody would be pardoned for breaking the law....clearly a double standard by the president to pardon them. Political definitions have nothing to do with decent behavior...that is not a political leaning. You don't have to be a liberal hippy to be disgusted by an armed occupation that disguises it's agenda with conservative sabre rattling and that's exactly what this all was...all those guys were given an out to surrender to law enforcement.....double standards are bullshit, I grew up not far from wounded knee....my maternal grandmother was raised there...you can gloss it over with liberal disdain but that's really you wanting to make it political...not me or barfo or Lanny...Lanny and I served our country....I served the biggest conservative ever in govt...Nixon...many of us lost our tolerance for that crap back then...don't want to see it raise it's ugly head again.

They're not terrorists. They didn't burn BLM land for a political statement, they did it to hide illegal activities. They're fucking criminals.

Also they accepted a plea bargain to have other charges dismissed. If they go back to the same activities that got them in trouble previously then those old charges should be reinstated and they should be prosecuted.

You sure about that? Burning grazing land is a common practice among ranchers to release nutrients in the soil.

nature does plenty of that on it's own....it's illegal to burn fields in Oregon because of the effect on air quality...has been for a long time...and they weren't burning their own fields either...they were breaking the law and escalated it by refusing arrest with armed resistance...not exactly taught in animal husbandry courses....I grew up in farming country...cattle grazing land was never burned for enriching the soil by any good ranchers or farmers I ever knew. Ask a forest ranger about forest fires sometimes....we don't need more of them

Actually it’s a common practice. I don’t know the purpose in this specific instance but it’s very common.

The soil bank program is for enriching soil....which is to rotate land use and not overgraze or plant...the best way to enrich the forest is to let it rest from human intervention and rotate the land use. Lightening will periodically burn the forests and clear the way for new growth...these guys weren't following the laws in place for land usage..if I burn your backyard, I wouldn't make the excuse that I'm helping your land

That may be, but I will still contend that it is a common practice for ranchers to burn grazing land.

I received Nixons directives via teletype and funneled them to the admiral daily....he was a bona fide conservative...don't fool yourself..and a paranoid guy...he falsified things about the war I couldn't relay due to my clearance....body counts for one. All were assigned as VC kills when many were not.

I never disputed Trump pardoning based on political affiliations. I disputed the notion that he pardoned them simply because they were white, which was the original sentiment of the thread, since it was a dviss thread and he sees the world through black and white goggles. Obama may have pardoned the leftist protesters you spoke of. He pardoned plenty of people that aligned with his political ideology. I've mostly been disputing the label of DOMESTIC TERRORIST being used because it's obnoxious, stupid fear mongering bullshit. You guys are citing examples of littering and taking shits in the woods while armed to support your charges of terrorism. Oh and don't forget arson (controlled burn on grazing land). The judicial system could just as easily peg you as a domestic terrorist if you got on the wrong side of them, law books are made to be interpreted at the imagination of the prosecutor.

It's much more than that....they were white but their radio broadcasts about their political directives were very similar to Trump's speech content....he identified with them...hence pardon....and it's a fact that they were given more rope than other protestors who were not identified with that particular subculture....if you listened to their radio broadcasts...it's pretty clear what the msg was and they broke the law in defiance of American laws in place..bunch of jerks....Trump pampers to this type of demographic, it's not rocket science...and it's wrong..believe whatever you like but understand your definitions are based on political posturing, not reality...burn my backyard and I'll see you put in jail pronto
 
A bunch of city boys that have no clue about what the government was and is doing to ranchers working lands homsteaded years ago. Sounding like they know something of which they know nothing.

Now, those cowboys were not in the right with what they were doing. End of statement. This does not mean the Government is not trying to put them out of business. Perhaps a buy out is the honorable thing to do, certainly it would be more honorable that setting them up to be shot.

But that is not what they were doing. They were killing wildlife on public land and lighting fires to hide it.
 
Domestic terror is when a guy takes a chainsaw to his wife in front of Kids.
And he was deported 11 times. This is something that can be prevented if people would come together with a reasonable plan for the border. Im not talking a wall or no wall, I'm taking more management over the crisis whatever it takes.

Exactly. These ranchers have more incentive to preserve this land than anyone. Its their livelyhood. And metropolitan bureaucrats and liberal journalists who don't know shit are actually trying to convince people they are destroying the land they depend upon for shits and giggles. It's such an asinine concept with no logical motive, but apparently its an easy narrative to spoon feed city-dwelling know-it-alls.

Would hate to spoil a Portlander's afternoon picnic in the wind-swept Malheur high desert, though. It's their right to use the land just like the ranchers.

What about the sportsmen and hunters that live there and also use the land? Are their rights any less than the Hammonds? What about the other ranchers who may not agree with everything the BLM is doing but comply with the agreement and do not do illegal acts? This is not some liberal vs conservative thing. Lots of local conservatives in that area do not support the bullshit that the Hammonds did for years.

I would rather look at the real evidence of what happened. Even local conservative law enforcement people agree:

Ok what about them? The Hammonds were turned into arsonists under an obscure terrorism law because they refused to sell their land to expand the refuge. They were being railroaded by the government and being given maximum penalties for minimal crimes. Everyone has the right to public land, that is fantastic. When the government starts deciding people's private land is going to be made public then they tend to get pissed. See how you feel when they decide to put the interstate through your front yard.

I'm not defending anyone taking over public property. They were wrong.
I am a law abiding citizen thats getting tired of all the polarization thats going on.
And I'm not talking shit about any race man, only those who break our laws and kill without conscience.
To me it doesn't matter what ones politics are, or race or religion, but if anyone or any organization breaks the fucking there should be penalties.
