Because Trump is an egomaniacal baby child, he refuses to accept polls showing he is the most negatively viewed incoming president in at least the last 40 years. It, is so very obvious that he is unpopular and vastly disliked. If he doesn't put aside his narcissism, it's going to end up fucking this country up.

Granted it's an informal poll on my part but, I think the rioting across the country is a pretty good indicator... I've never seen that after an election before... and I'm old.

I am not so sure. There was tons of crap going on with Obama, and Bush, but back then the prevalent use of social media was quite a bit lower compared to today, fake news / propaganda sites were pretty much non-existent in terms of relevance. I don't remember if MSM was as biased back then, but I did vote for Obama the first time, so likely they were, LOL

You have pollsters who obviously got the election results very wrong.

The wording of the questions matter, or the polls are actually "push polls."

And then there's the constant stirring up of shit by the biased media. PR absolutely affects polls. The media's focus is on destroying Trump and his nominees, not reporting on anything he does that is good.

Like meeting with MLK III gets a minute or two air time every few hours. Yet they have panel after panel of Trump haters talking down about him.

I frankly don't care about his popularity. It will only matter, ultimately, in 2020. If by then, his popularity is still low, he's sucked as president. If he comes through on a fraction of his promises, he should be hugely popular.
