Seems kind of a dumb hill for him to climb here. But it's just wagging the dogs tail. It's meaningless.
 
The more Trump tries to throttle social media, the more they will resist from doing his bidding.
 
Not a lot of info here. Aren’t executive orders more or less meaningless legislation anyway? They really only serve as symbolic posturing for the politicians who sign them. I remember people freaking out over Obama’s many executive orders that never actually changed anything.

I think it'll have the opposite effect. The more his base will band together and be more supportive of him. It's pretty obvious that he is doing this for a reason.

No, not at all. They can be symbolic, but they can also have actual effect. For instance, Trump's tariffs were done by EO.

It might be wise for the media and others to quit giving him opportunities to be a martyr. If they want him to drown so bad then they should probably quit throwing him life preservers. Just a thought.

He's doing it because nobody puts baby trump in a corner. The problem with his method it's all geared to his base and nobody else. If he has a 40-44% approval rating from his base and you factor in about 30% of those actually vote, that leaves him a long ways off and trump only has more time to fuck up even more.

my interpretation:

trump & the R's that support him are launching a jihad against vote-by-mail and they will be using the completely utter bullshit excuse of voter fraud as the cover. They know that higher participation in the election would very likely mean bad news for them, so this jihad will have absolutely nothing to do with election integrity. It's all about suppressing participation of voting blocks that historically favor democrats. It's about keeping their own greasy hands on the levers of power

so then, the notion that there is some nefarious action by Oregon to change voter affiliation would fit with that lying misinformation campaign the R's are gearing up toward. This will only be an early shot of many the trump's will fire at Oregon's voting system

by the way, in my tin-foil had world, the ace-in-the-hole for trump in this scheme is to force the Postal Service into bankruptcy and shut it down. If he can't defeat the push for vote-by-mail in the Covid age, he will make it so there's no mail service. Chaos favors the corrupt and trump is the king of both

I mean, take that loopy post right there. That 2 million number (IIRC it was 2.2 million), was from the early days of the pandemic and was based upon the simple math of a 1% mortality rate and a 70% level of infection in the US creating herd immunity. Essentially, it was based upon almost no actual Covid data. In other words, it was basically meaningless....just some simple math from a calculator based upon a guess about the mortality rate and based upon no mitigation policies

and just what the fuck has that orange asshole done to impact the mortality rate in a positive fashion? He didn't issue stay-at-home orders, that was the governors. He didn't limit gathering numbers, that was the governors. He didn't close non-essential businesses or campaign for social distancing or encourage the use of masks; again the was the governors

the reasons why the death toll isn't higher are actions by governors and behavior by the people. Those are policies and behavior that trump has been busy trashing for weeks. But 100,000 dead (and the actual number is much higher) is a number that is higher than it should be...and that's on trump

BERLIN (Reuters) - If U.S. President Donald Trump goes ahead with his threat to close Twitter, the micro-blogging site can always relocate to Germany.

After Trump threatened to shut down Twitter for advising its users to fact-check his tweets, a senior German official suggested in a light-hearted tweet that the California-based company would be better off in Europe.


“This is an invitation to move to Germany!” Thomas Jarzombek, Berlin’s point person for the startup economy, tweeted on Thursday.

“Here you are free to criticize the government as well as to fight fake news. We have a great startup and tech ecosystem, your company would be a perfect fit and I will open any doors for you!”


Trump is expected to order a legal review after objecting to Twitter’s handling of tweets by the president that made unsubstantiated claims about fraud in mail-in voting. In a first, the company issued an advisory on Wednesday to check the facts on Trump’s tweets.
