Not excited about either, but if I compare the two time periods, so far Trump's was better.

While I agree that we need better candidates, I don't see how anything was better under Trump.

I just don't see a path forward here for the guy and the fact that Graham would start to praise this man again is amazing. He has a small but very vocal following that will go with him to the ends of the earth (why he has followers still baffles me).

Let's say he loses the primaries- Trump will claim it was rigged against him and either run an indy, splitting the R votes and giving the win to the Ds OR most of his followers will probably pout in defiance refusing to vote, again giving the win to the Ds.
Let's say he wins the primaries- I have to think even more Ds and Indys will come out to make sure this man is never president again, again giving the win to the Ds. I just don't see a path forward (barring some historical event) that Trump can ever win and the rest of the GOP has to realize this. They sold their party to this man and now Trump is doing what Trump does with everything, he's destroying it!

Good, maybe that party will recognize that they need to go back to have some ideology that is not "insult the other guy and win at all costs", and if it's not the Republican party, some other party will come out of it that can be a proper alternative to the Democratic party. But the GOP as it currently stands is a cesspool that makes the normal political parties look like beacons of hope. Let's face it, politics are never pretty, but they have gone to places that are just disgusting even by political standards for democratic countries, they basically are trying to recreate a dictatorship.
