What he probably really wanted to say: yep, another individual on this team who consistently fails to live up to even his own miserable performance standards. Tact is defined as a manner of telling a person to go to hell in a manner that they'd enjoy the trip.
This is one of the reasons why I wouldn't lose any sleep if the Yanks choose to clean house and INCLUDE Girardi (along with Cashman).
I have given Cashman a pass the last two years...it's no secret- but imo, Girardi should've also been on the hot seat these last couple of seasons. He doesn't get a free ride with me just because the Yanks have a couple of big contracts to a couple of old players.
It's for reasons such as the Headley situation and similiar....Girardi should just bench his ass a bit more often in favor of someone who is showing more signs of life.
Eventually Headley will have enough opportunity to "get going"...if he ever will.
Girardi also seems to have eliminated the possibility of the Yanks putting runners in motion in order to stay out of double plays, scew up the shifts, or "forcing" a Yankee batter to concentrate on making contact.
This is not exactly asking for the moon for ML hitters..
Some say the Yanks "don't have the players" and "they strike out too much" to use the
hit-and-run or sac bunt.
I say this is horseshit - no reason why certain players
on any team shouldn't be asked to hit and run a couple/few times during the season.....and you can make it much easier on everyone by doing it with less than two strikes.
He also is counter productive in helping his SP grow a pair of balls!
