I don't know? Simons can shoot but he can't run an offense. He is too small to be a SG and doesn't seem to be able to control the ball well enough to bee a PG.
Maybe he can continue to progress? But my thinking is he will top out as a rotational guy that can't really run an offense and will end up down the road.
Yep he scored against a Summer League team and he had a good game last year against essentially another bunch of bench players. But i just cannot see him translating into the player the Blazers need right now. Blazers need a PG to back up Dame.
how is Simons two small to be an SG when he measured the same exact height as CJ at the draft combine with a 3 inch loner wingspan than CJ? and he may have grown a bit since then

I would've been fine with Trent missing shots that were good shot-selection and if he made an effort to set up Simons. It's more about the way he plays for me. And the way he played today was CJ-esque but worse..

G.T.Jr is a bigger chucker than CJ which says a lot

SL is one thing, but the way Dame has talked him up, and taken him under his wing. I mean he’s still incredibly raw. I think he’s gonna be good. I mean Neil flat out said that Anfernee was the most talented player he’s ever drafted... I think they believe Simons is going to be a star someday.

You may be right, but by all account if Simons had of been in this draft class he’s probably taken 3rd or 4th.

I don't watch college ball at all but was Trent playing like that at Duke. It's weird to me that a guy that was basically the 4th option on his college team is chucking that much

Why do people call Simons “Ant”? There isn’t a T in his name.

He's just trying to show the coaching staff that he can get his own shot. He's not the first rookie to do that.

Trent has bad habits. This is the perfect time to work on breaking them. He did that in game 2, and then in game 3 with Anfernee hot and him being cold, he didn't look to set up Anfernee at all. He chucked. Up 1 with 38 seconds left and Anfernee killin it and he calls his own number and drives hopelessly into traffic and gets stuffed and it turns into a transition 3. Those types of plays are losing plays. Dude needs to work on playing a better brand of ball. Been talking about it before SL and after that 2nd game I was hoping that he stumbled upon doing so.
You believe Simons set up Trent yesterday if so how many assist did Simons have the last 2 games. Yes Trent made some bad decision in the game but his turnovers are less then Simons though he more assist then Simons too. Plus we got really good players name Dame and CJ make those same to the bucket in games and sometimes get the same results that Trent did tonight.

wut?

I was talking about how people tend to overrate the meaning of SL. That for damn sure happened with Bayless. He was the MVP of SL his rookie season and set a scoring record at the time. Some Blazer fans went batshit about him and how high his upside was

On 2 assists Trent literally make a basic swing pass and then Robinson created for himself. Does that mean Trent wasn't chucking?

I just hate half screen due I really don't give a shit about the announcers talking head people.
Those fucking announcers just babbled on and on about any stupid opinion they could think of like they were in a radio booth filling time on a syndicated call in show. Portland v Utah on the floor, so they spent 10 minutes talking about NYC. And Houston. And whatever hypotheticals they could dream up.

Why are summer league broadcasts so fucking horrible? Here's a clue, dumbasses: The only people watching the game are hardcore fans who want some PLAYER EVALUATION and actual basketball insights. I don't give a single shit what you fuckers would do if you had $100 million.

Everything he does looks so effortless right now. He clearly looks like he doesn't belong in SL.

I really want to see what he does in a full season. His ceiling on the team is so limited playing behind Dame and CJ though...
Simon's still needs at least one full year behind them. He'll get enough minutes to develop, and he'll more than make up for Curry's offense.

I seen nice pass to Simons for a dunk and really don't matter what kind pass you give a guy to get a assist does it. I don't call anybody shooting a chucker if that a the case then Simons must be a chucker too. Hell Dame and CJ must be chucker too. I agree Simons was hot and shot more then

Your right about that!

Well who thought Little was going be rotation this season is just nuts. Trent very streaky shooter he can go off at anytime. But he doing other things well got 3 assist 6 rebounds playing good D. I am I see CJ have shooting nights like this and I bet the coaching staff tell him continue to shoot.
Trent shoots like shit when his shot selection is shit. Which is most of the time.

He shoots well when he's open and facing the basket.

Needs more patience, team mind set, and let the game come to him, as they say.

That's anyone though and yes very good shooter when open.

No, I’d just hate to see him get injured in a glorified pick up game.

It’s pretty common for teams to shut down guys the second week of summer league.
How very prescient. Sadly.

One or two good passes were the outlier. He forced many shots and circled chucked like crazy. Dame makes the right play. CJ chucks but hes also a much better scorer than Trent.

The aspect I really like about Anfernees game, that he already is better at than Lillard, is he pushes the pace.
As soon as he gets the ball, BAM, he's gone like a wildcat up the court, instantly putting pressure on the opponents defense.

Hope the Blazers system doesn't train that out of him.

Size isn't just length and height. At this point he is still trying to get strong enough to hold his own. Not saying he won't. What i'm saying is i feel he is not ready yet and the Blazers need to be thinking about a backup point guard that can contribute right now.

Dame talks up everyone. Would you like me to dig up certain statements he made about Meyers, Jake, PatCon, Frazier, Bazz?
I still don't think he will be much more than rotational but lets hope he becomes a star.
Then there is the issue about raw and trying to win right now. I feel the Blazers need a solid ball handling back up PG. Simons doesn't look ready at all to me.
