nice try shirley, but those were trumps words when he was first in office complaining about how much Obama golfed and that he wouldn't have time to golf. Turns out, it was just one of the many thousand lies he has told the American people as he has golfed twice as much as Obama. You enable and support a compulsive liar.

I really don't have a problem with him golfing. This has been a tough time. He has spent a bunch of time dealing with a tough situation.
My problem comes with the fact that he tried to make an issue of this in years past.
I'm thinking about going out and hookin a few myself but of course i'm not quite in his position.

Yep. The issue is the double standard. all politicians have them but geez don't make it so obvious....

I don't have a problem with people complaining that they don't like it when the President sleeps around, does drugs, feels he (or she) is ill-prepared, golfs too much, capitulates too much, etc...but I do have a problem with the same people who complained about a Presidents morality, or common sense/business sense, or spends too much time golfing, are completely fine with it when a President with their party does the same.

I didn't necessarily like how often Obama golfed (I find the game boring). But I don't care if he does. It's a stressful job. But what I do care about is someone who spread the idea that Obama golfed waaaaaay too much and that they would never golf (or not golf as much as Obama), actually golfs more. It was pretty clear to many that one of the biggest reasons why Trump would use this tactic is because it created a way to make it look like Obama thought he was "better" than the rest of us. Be it a subtle "wag the dog" racism trope, or a financial "class" separation trope, I don't know.

But what I do know is that when someone golfs more than the person they accuse of golfing too much, and is much more of an elitist and snob than they imply that Obama was, there's a reason why people are turning a blind eye to this Mt Everest of hypocrisy.

I understand everything you are relating here. Trump is hyperbolic, brash, egotistical, and even hypocritical at times. That said, I do think what Orion said has some bearing here in that Trump has had so much hate (litigation) lashed at him from the left, golf may truly be his only outlet.

I just wish he would shut the fuck up, do his thing and not give a shit or respond to the media in general.
Never has a President made himself so accessible to the media and there is a reason. prior to Obama you heard from the President a few times a year really and the rest was all press secretary updates.
i understand how the media has shifted over the years but it really is his worst enemy in my opinion. Its very agenda driven rather than truth driven and he lets himself get sucked in and he loses alot of that media warfare because the media does not forget anything said. Ever.

Going out on and giving rallies isn't exactly the same as giving access to the media.

It wasn't until the Covid issue that he was answering any questions in a real press conference that wasn't just him in front of the helicopter leaving. He hasn't been accessible to the media, let alone "never" has a President before him been more accessible. That's just demonstrably false.

i meant the other way around.
I didn't make that clear.
When i said more accessible, i should have said never has a president responded to the media and give focus to the media on an every day basis like Trump does.
He focuses way too much on every news networks tweet.

sorry for twisting that up. Never has a president felt the need to respond to every little thing, and do so in a format that leaves little room or option for rebuttal or follow up questions.

Gotcha. That makes much more sense. This I agree. He's an attention whore, which is saying a lot considering that's the #1 prerequisite for the job.
