Why do they not care about us? Because we don't vote. We don't hold them accountable. That's on us, not them.

It's because our two parties are corrupt and work for moneyed interests over the interests of the people of America.

Serious question..... isn't Trump saying he is rushing to put his replacement on the supreme court solely for the reason of securing him the presidency illegal in some way? Why is this not raising more of a red flag???

Yes, he is. Its raising red flags. But, there isn't much that can be done about it as the morally bankrupt republicans control the senate. The only way to stop him is the greatest showing of voters in history this election. Trump has to be beaten so bad, not even his friends in the SC can say anything.

The thing is we need people to vote in person. I could see Trump's SC voting that all mail in ballots due to the coronavirus are illegal and invalid. Since more republicans vote in person Trump would win.

That or Trump will try to have states with republican controlled legislatures send alternate electors should Trump lose their state, and give their electoral votes to Trump anyway. I am sure a SC with Barrett added would find this to be ok.

It's our uncaring two party system that is killing our nation. If our government cared about the people of America, the people wouldn't be so apathetic, imo.
Disagree, you replace a deep and narrow hierarchical selection process with a shallow and wide one will not make things better, it will likely make them worse with a lot more power to fringe groups. We have seen it before in other countries.

If you want to fix the election and government in the us, you need term limits all around and remove the electoral vote allowing for minority rule.this is where the concentration of power happens.

Take the corruption out of our two parties that America currently has, and America should run the way it was intended to run in the first place, imo.

That is a start. There was a thread a while back on a fix to our government by changing our voting system, if I remember correctly. It sounded interesting, and the one city/state it was used here in the U.S. seemed to show that it works well for the people.

Draining both parties swamps by removing the corporate money that fuels both parties campaigns would be a must in any fix.

Term limits is the first step to do that.

You can not completely take the money out of politics, business is an integral part of the economy and politics and economy are intertwined - but I agree that better finance restrictions on lobbying are a good idea, I am not sure how to do that in a smart way, but I am sure there is a better way of doing it than the way it is done now, maybe limits on lobby payments, corporate contributions etc...

When Putin was lecturing Trump about Stalin, Trump thought he meant stalling...Don's not the sharpest pencil in the box

I had relatives that drank a lot of corn whiskey made with a wood fire in the woods of Alabama. This was drank out of a canning jar.
In dry Decatur Alabama, my grandfather would drink this moonshine in a speak easy in dry Decatur, directly across the street from city hall in the company of the mayor and chief of police.

Lets just say Ivanka is going to have to testify eventually. There is no way charges will not be brought up against her father and she will have to either take the wrap or tell on him.

Why? Because of the $26 million that Trump wrote off as "consulting fees" between 2010 and 2018, none is allocated to any specific person or entity. (The Times figured out the $747,622 payment by matching an amount paid in Trump's tax returns to the same sum reported by Ivanka Trump on her financial disclosure forms filed when she went to work in the White House in 2017.)
