I know the guy is kind of a head case, but it looks like the Kings are going to try to ship him out. What do you think about him on our squad?

Don't want a headcase, no matter what. I don't care how good or talented he is. Mental toughness wins championships.

I never liked his game. If you thought Jamal was a black hole... and at least Jamal can shoot.

Nocioni put him on blast last week basically calling him a cancer in the locker room.

How is he a head case? He plays on a team that lets a 4'11" shooting guard dominate the ball.

His numbers across the board have dipped since his rookie year.

I'm kinda surprised at just how bad he shoots it from three: career 25% (20% this year).

He's immature and lacks common sense. And they have two on the same team with DeMarcus.

He plays for the same team that gave up on J.J. Hickson, right?

I'm not sure the Kings are the best example to judge a player's career.

One speeding incident. If we hold potential players to Canzanoian standards, we'll never build up this team. PapaG is right. Evans' percentages will improve on a better team.

I'd rather go after Lou Williams who is reportedly opting out to become unrestricted.

You want to use most of the cap space on Lou Williams as opposed to potentially Tyreke Evans on his rookie deal?

Lou Williams? Really?

Evans reminds me a lot of Carmelo Anthony -- both the good bits and the bad bits.

I don't know if I want him or not; it would all come down to cost.

I would be happy to take the risk in his talent.

Name ONE, JUST ONE, questionable-character guy that won a championship.

Both Rodman and Sheed intentionally acted the way they did. And both were big men.

Head case guards are completely worthless.

Kobe, Shaq...there are so many. Anyway, why do you find Evans' talent questionable? Can you list the string of events?

Rashard Lewis was busted as a Sonic for a similar speeding incident and the Sonic media and fans didn't care.

It's very hard for a small market like Portland to land a talent like Evans.

Dude, Kobe and Shaq aren't headcases. There's a difference between drama and what we are talking about here.

Just so we can have it defined, a "headcase" in my opinion, would be a guy who is stupid and does stupid stuff that is detrimental to himself and his career. Also a guy who is mentally weak and has no desire to put in the work or effort to be the best.

Clearly Kobe and Shaq were workers who wanted to be great.

You will be very hard pressed to find a guy on any championship squad that doesn't meet these criteria.

As for Evans, I don't know much about him. I'm going on the word of others in this thread that his character is a bit questionable.

With that said, taking on a guy like that is not worth it in the long run. Might get some more regular season wins vs. not taking on that risk, but who cares.

The goal is to win it all.

Michael Jordan was a gambling addict, got his first coach fired, punched a teammate during practice, quit on his team right before training camp, yet still managed to win 6 titles. He then re-entered the NBA and played for the Wizards, embarrassing himself in the process, and killing that franchise, just to satisfy his own ego. Hell, the Wizards traded Rip Hamilton to the Pistons for Jerry Stackhouse when Jordan was a 39 year-old SG. What type of 39 year-old head case thought that was a good idea?

Or does that not count as being headcase, because he won titles? Give me a "head case" like Michael Jordan anytime. I'd love it as an owner, even if it meant he basically was running the team.

You're making yourself look stupid. Keep questioning the greatest player that ever lived.

Also, I'll re-post my definition here, since you can't read.

What has Tyreke Evans done that is detrimental to his career? You said you're taking the words of others for calling him a "head case". I don't think he's a head case like Michael Jordan, but if he was, wouldn't you take that guy?

p.s. Saying I made myself look stupid is Oregonlive stuff, isn't it? I gave your reasons why Micheal Jordan was a head case, IMO. Don't like it? Meh, but he's a head case. Kobe Bryant was in a rape fiasco for a year, and paid a civil settlement to Caitlyn Faber. Doesn't that make him a head case, too?

JR Rider

What did I win?

I guess if you want examples...

Let's just say if your actions lead to you being arrested at gunpoint... you're fuckin' up. Not exactly a guy with common sense.

JR Rider

What did I win?

Nothing, because he was taken off their playoff roster and in no way contributed to the Lakers' championship.

Actually I take that back, he contributed by NOT being there.

Try again.

JR Rider........ Steven Jackson.......Ron Artest........

You are trolling me by coming at me with an argument that has a basis of Michael Jordan being a headcase. Of course I'm going to say you're making yourself look stupid...because you are.

Evans may very well NOT be a head case. I'm just arguing to the principle of a bona fide head case.

But you said you were taking the word of a few posters in this thread about Evans being a head case. I think it's obvious that both Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant have been in more "head case" public situations than Tyreke Evans, isn't it? They were much more talented than Evans, and two of the greatest players in NBA history, so does that excuse them from being head cases?

By your criteria, nobody who has won a title can be considered a head case. Read your own definition of it. It makes no sense to me. I'm not trolling you, I'm questioning you. If you can't handle it, that's not my fault.

JR Rider........ Steven Jackson.......Ron Artest........

JR Rider won nothing. Artest just got himself suspended for the rest of the year. I mean...I guess that's a guy you would want around though yah?

Stephen Jackson, he rode the coat tails of Duncan, Robinson, Parker and the rest of them. He left and they still continued to win championships. I'm sure they don't regret letting him go.

I take it back, HCP wins. Ron Artest is a big can of crazy.

The Lakers don't win in '10 without Artest's Game 7. Not sure where c_note is going with this, but it's as much entertainment as this board has seen in a while.

I'm not a fan of headcases, but watching you try to swim upstream is pretty entertaining.

You didn't stipulate what kind of role they had, you just asked us to name one, JUST ONE, questionable character guy that won a championship and we've named about four or five. And you give Dennis Rodman way too much credit. The guy is a looney toon. Go read his books. It's not an act. He's crazy.

You asked for 1 guy who was a nutcase and won a ring..... I gave you 3 son.
