Breaking news: someone has sabotaged (blown up) both Nordstream gas lines,
Most likely russians did sabotage their own gas lines. Enables them to cut off gas to Europe and not be blamed for breaking contracts. Also they can blame the sabotage on USA and play the victim card and hope to divide allies.
Day 216. Ukrainian forces continued to make advances north of Lyman and on the eastern bank of the Oskil River. Ukraine downed four “Shahed-136” kamikaze drones. Mobilized Russians call the hotline to ask how to surrender. Ukraine urges EU to help make emergency food routes permanent. Zelenskyy says two more burial sites were found in liberated Izium. Another Russian torture chamber was discovered in the Kharkiv region. US to allocate $457.5M in security assistance to Ukraine. UK sanctions collaborators of Russia’s illegal sham referendums. Kazakhstan says it won’t recognize Russian pseudo-referendums in Ukraine.

Man... If the flows stop and freeze up over the winter it will take decades to get them replaced... Hard to see how this doesn't hurt Russia more long term than anybody else.

I wonder if they are trying to force prices up enough that the US gets isolationist and bans exports of oil. That's bound to happen at some point...
 
Sort of off topic but Xi from China is rumored to be under house arrest facing a coup in the Chinese govt. He just had a series of strategy meetings with Putin....maybe China wants to wash it's hands over Russia finally

This would be incredibly smart of China. They need the rest of the world far more than the rest of the world needs them.

I don't think it's off topic at all. If it's true that China wants to distance themselves from their current path it would be very damaging to Russia's efforts in Ukraine.

Russo Ukrainian War. Day 217: Poland, Denmark launch a new gas pipeline to transport Norwegian gas to Europe
Day 217. Ukraine has pressed its offensive operations in the northeast and made slow advances in the direction of the Oskil and Siverskyy Donets rivers, making further gains on the outskirts of Lyman. Ukrainian forces continued to target Russian ground lines of communication. Russian forces continued unsuccessful offensive operations around Bakhmut and west of Donetsk City. The newly-mobilized Russian military is transported to the Kherson and Kharkiv Oblast frontlines without prior training. Russian forces inflicted severe damage on a Ukrainian airfield in Kryvyi Rih. Putin will likely announce the Russian annexation of occupied Ukrainian territory on September 30. Russian officials are setting conditions to forcibly mobilize or conscript Ukrainian civilians in soon-to-be annexed areas of occupied Ukraine. Russian authorities are establishing checkpoints at Russia’s borders to forcibly mobilize Russian men who are seeking to avoid forced mobilization by fleeing the country. its just a conspiracy but the logic checks out. A military coup because they don’t want to go out badly (like the Russian military has) for Taiwan

The Chinese are the most naturally capitalistic people on the planet...they've had enough of this comrade shit and want to make a buck and go to Vegas or Disneyland....Xi failed by trying to be a hard liner with a bloated military and a suffering economy.
 
Note on the 18 HIMARs coming from USA. Won't be delivered for 2-3 years but maybe will help deter Putin from continuing war too long. The real need is the rockets that these launchers use. Short supply worldwide apparently.

Whole family perished (grandmother, two small kids, mother). The neighbors are finding children's body parts in their backyards. The father of the family is fighting for the Ukrainian Armed Forces near Lyman and has to come home now and bury his family.

Ukrainian troops continued to target Russian logistics, transportation, and military assets in Kherson Oblast. Russian troops continued ground attacks in Donetsk Oblast. For some reason seeing that dog, who is in shock and blinded and deafened by the blast, still seeming to look for his family, was as heartbreaking as anything we have seen.
