Either russian bloggers have gone into full panic over something or else some real shit is starting to happen. Reports that Ukraine has started small counteroffensives to outflank and surround russian troops in Bakhmut and also rumors that Ukraine may have started to cross the river in southern Ukraine. russians have been looting and evacuating civilian government personnel and other citzens from the southern regions for several days now. There are even reports of evacuation from Mariupol which is far behind the front line. Even Prigozhin, the PMC Wagner chief is claiming Ukraine looking to take Bakhmut and then continue into russian provinces. (This last won't happen but hopefully russians paranoid enough to build up defenses on the borders.)

This is really big news. for me, more important than F-16s. Ukraine can now strike russian supply and ammo dumps and supply routes that were just out of range previously. Thank you so much Great Britain! They are delivering long range rockets to Ukraine!
"According to MBDA Missile Systems, the European company which manufactures the missile, the Storm Shadow is a “deep strike weapon” capable of “being operated day and night in all weathers,” that features an advanced navigation system to ensure accuracy."

I know it may just be a pipe dream, but if I were Z, my terms for Russia's "surrender/withdrawal" would be not only remove Putin from power and give back all the territory Russia has taken, including Crimea...but Russia would have to foot the bill for rebuilding Ukraine to where it was before the invasion.

...yeah, I know, I know, and like I said, I realize that it's a pipe dream.

Their military is wiped out
That would be nice if it were true, it’s not though. Shit is probably going to get really bad over there really soon, like within days or weeks. Wars in the northern parts of the world are fought at the behest of Mother Nature, and spring thaw and drying might see this ridiculous war increase in magnitude if some type of deal isn’t brokered. There’s a strong chance the winter was being waited out by both sides.

There is no deal to make. Russia can just leave.

I just wonder whether this Prigozhin/Putin fight isn't entirely fake.

Oh ok. Carry on.
I mean, I guess Ukraine can agree not to attack mainland Russia... But otherwise Russia can just GTFO.

Hmm... You mean like Putin is playing along, or it's just propaganda from Russia's enemies?

I mean maybe it's a trap, like "oh, please whatever you do, don't attack us in Bakmut, we are very very weak there, we are so unprepared, if you attacked us we would not fight at all, we have no ammunition and all our soldiers are 90 year old grandmas in wheelchairs"

Warmer weather didn't seem to give Russia an advantage last year, and I don't foresee that changing things this Spring/Summer either.

It seems like the counter may be happening. Gaining ground in bahkmut, Columns of troops near belgorad, lots of boats on the dnipro river, and Russian telegram shitting themselves

The fact the media has people convinced Ukraine is going to win in a war against Russia is completely bonkers. Propaganda works. You guys realize the US will just leave Ukraine hanging like we do every other country we go to “help” right? As soon as the military industrial complex has exhausted this game and sucked all the money they can out of it, we will dip out and Ukraine will be left to fend for themselves like every other country the US has ruined. Why does nobody learn this lesson? It’s a tried and true blueprint at this point. The US has ZERO core strategic interests in that area, meanwhile Russia has everything to lose. They’ve lost tens of millions of people since Napoleon with invasions through those lands, I highly doubt they just give up, and the elephant in the room is the fact that they are infinitely more powerful than Ukraine. It’s just the truth. The idea that Ukraine is going to incite a regime change in Russia is deranged.

Yeah, Europe is worthless to us. Fuck 'em.

If we teamed up with Russia, we could attack from the west, take the UK, France, Spain, so on, while Russia takes Ukraine, Germany, and the nordic countries.

Enslave the population, and force their children to work in our meatpacking plants.

I'm with you, jonnyboy!

...I would agree with everything you just said...but that would prevent me from being right.

Putin isn’t trying to march through Europe though, or at least there’s been no indication of that whatsoever. It’s not even strategically significant. He’s doing the wrong thing and going about it the wrong way but the reasons for it have been made clear. It’s a response to NATO expansion and (supposed) aggression toward ethnic Russians in the east by the recently installed Ukrainian government. Not saying their reasons are true or valid or justified, but those are their reasons.

All russia has to lose is their dignity, self respect and some territory that never really belonged to them.

Those are their stated reasons.

Has been confirmed that Ukraine have made advances north and south of Bakhmut in a continued attempt to outflank the russians. No indications that they have needed to use any of the 12 brigades (well armed with western armored vehicles) that are held in reserve for the counter offensive.
Has been confirmed that Ukraine struck deep into occupied territory (Luhansk) using the new long range missiles that Britain has provided.
russia lost two helicopters and two warplanes yesterday in a province adjacent to Ukraine. Unclear if it was Ukrainian fire or friendly fire.
Germany just announced a huge new military aid package to Ukraine and their defense minister announced they will support Ukraine's entry into NATO. Huge turnaround in Germany policy in the last year.
I am even going to throw in what a russian soldier thinks about Ukraine's coming offensive:

^^^LOL...that pretty much sums things up.

Sounds like the hypersonic missile that Ukraine shot down last week targeted a Patriot system in Kyiv. Instead the Patriot system shot it down. That's got to be a bit of a sobering realization in Moscow.

So what? I have reasons for keeping a bunch of young women chained in my basement, but that doesn't mean the USA has to accept it.

Some may not believe that Ukraine is basically holding back the barbarian hordes from rolling into Europe but those from Moldova (and Poland and the Baltics) understand.

OK...gotta ask, do you have a bunch of young women chained in your basement?....asking for a friend.

Well, not against their will. They let me do it. Unfortunately, or fortunately.

Standard duty for a commie pirate to chain up his winches, then auction them off for brides...

Are they quality winches though, or are they junkers?

I'm all for getting a deal on a winch, but when I'm stuck in the bush and need a winch to save my life I want to know I can rely on it.
