Funny how somethings stick with you for years, even decades.

I was a young UC Berkeley student when I heard a talk about Stalin that included a lot about Stalin Hitler pact. The speaker was old enough so that he remembered the event contemporaneously. He described Ribbentrop and Molotov toasting one another. His comment that I have never forgotten, "their faces were the ugliest I have ever seen".

I have now seen it.

I think you're probably right. But that person is going to have to have a different platform than corporate Democrats have had.

That has turned away too many people and that is why so many of them stay home and or support populist candidates.

Not sure why. Trump already said it will will be up to Putin to offer concessions and stop the war. It's just an assets grab with Ukraine getting nothing in return. Zelensky better read that contract carefully before signing it.

Oh Putin will get cut in. Trump was already getting ready to make a deal with Putin, probably the involving taking Ukraine and halfing mining rights.

Trump's favorability among his own base plummeted when he said Vance was his running mate. It was and is a shitshow. Vance has no real say in anything.

I think once Trump dies the cult dies. There isn't really anyone who has been elected (see how i exclude Musk, who would never win a fair election) or anyone in his family or inner circle that will have the pull he does. It dies with him.
 
I know Trump, Vance and Putin are awful and that will be the story, but man I hope Zelenskyy has some honest people around him, the type that will tell him that it's a bad idea to get baited into a debate on live TV in your second language by an argumentative millenial prick barely relevant to the negotiations.

Putin doesn’t have enough army left at this point to take on Europe in a conventional war. In a couple of years? Sure. Europe had better get busy building their forces up.

This morning, Senator Lindsey Graham posted a video of how excited he was that Zelenskyy was here and how much he admires Ukraine president. After Trump reality TV, Graham said Zelenskyy must resign. Senator Roger Wicker poster a tweet this morning of himself shaking hands with Zelenskyy and saying it was an honor to meet him. After reality TV he took it down and wouldn't reply to media requests for comment. As a Senator, Marco Rubio had been a strong supporter of Ukraine. Today he issued a statement in support of dear leader that could have been written in North Korea.

A representative of Russian state TV was there live streaming the reality TV show. Afterwards, White House press secretary didn't know who he was or how he got there. Because people just stroll into the Oval Office all the time.
