Edit: This is a real eye opener.

According to this guy the causes of this crisis are 1) Democracy ( political independence); 2) EU involvement (economic independence); 3) Potential NATO membership ( the right to protect themselves). And according to him, these are valid and reasonable grounds for what Russia is doing!

I have never heard of this guy before, but 10 minutes of listening to his right wing/pro Russian talking points is enough to write him off as just another member of the anti-American, right wing fever swamp. His admission that he identifies more with Chinese authoritarians than with "21st century Americans" should tell you all you need to know about his credibility.

I was reading about the details of the beginning of WWII the other day. I knew there were certain similarities but I was blown away by how similar so many details are to this situation and what led up to it.

I can't imagine being Ukraine right now. You're getting attacked by a superior force and the rest of the world just watches because you're not yet part of their special club. Pretty disgusted with NATO and the US at the moment.

Ukrainian troops have repelled one advance into Kiev. I don't know why they didn't cut them off and annihilate them but I guess in the middle of the night and with the chaos it's difficult, but that is the kind of thing they need to do to win this. They have shot down a second troop transport plane south of the city and captured about 28 paratroopers on board. President Zelenskyii has turned down an offer from the USA to evacuate him.

Well historically speaking I’d say they aren’t the best fighters. Quite possibly the worst. They seem to lose like 10 guys to every opponent’s 1. They’ve lost millions in wars alone, that’s not to mention the millions more at the hands of their own dictators. Finland alone sent them running scared in WW2 with only a few good snipers. I still wouldn’t underestimate them against a country as small as Ukraine though right now. I just don’t want to see our country get involved if and when Ukraine begins to fall. We should’ve never helped ease all this mess along in the first place.

Maybe I misunderstood or maybe Ukraine is exaggerating:
Mykhailo Podoliak, an adviser to the head of the Zelensky admin, claims that the Ukrainian military has killed more than 3,500 invading Russian soldiers and taken roughly 200 prisoners. Moscow has yet to acknowledge a single combat loss.

I believe Ukraine is stating about 200 dead so far. I hope these figures are correct.
