Love it!

Send the ruskies packing. Or at least hold out until the US can fling this monkey off our backs and hopefully come back to our senses.

I don't want to hear another thing about Russian interference in our elections...

Russia is a fucking problem.

But we have to fix our systems here to do anything about it.

Israel, the UK, and the US share a ton of intelligence. Incentives are generally aligned for all three countries.

I don't like a lot of shit they do, but they aren't nearly as much of a threat to US democracy as Russia and Trump.

The biggest threat to U.S. democracy is the U.S. When people can't afford to live, they want to overthrow the system.
That's exactly what I'm saying. Blaming another country does nothing. It's our own house we need to be focusing on. Only internally can we limit the influence that powerful entities have on our government.

We can't help anybody else at this point. Regardless of what we want. Everyone else is just going to have to get by without us and (in some cases) in spite of us.

Well......this IS the party of "no more wars" and "respect for the Constitution and law and order". They just have an odd way of showing it.....

The power that the Israeli lobby has should scare every American. Whatever they want they have a green light. They have nuclear weapons. It doesn't seem to matter which party is in power, Israel controls both. Carter and Nixon said this. We are occupied and now they're taking aim at Americans themselves.

We are literally losing our constitutional rights because of Israel. That is unique to them. It's not about blame. It's about recognizing a very real problem for what it is instead of acting like we can't talk about this very obvious problem.

We're losing our constitutional rights because of Russia as well. And because of Hollywood. And because of the wealthy in general.

I don't have a problem talking about anything. I just have a problem with distractions that get in the way of legit solutions.

Either way, what is your suggested solution to Israel? Maybe that's what I'm not following.

We can talk about it, in fact we are. You are exaggerating its importance though. There are lots of lobbies that have too much influence, Israel is certainly one of them. But far from the only one.

How are we losing rights because of Russia and Hollywood? Can you explain?

Israel needs to be registered with FARA. EVERY other nation must besides Israel. JFK was murdered because he was trying to make this happen. We also need to get money out of politics entirely. The truth about the Epstein files would likely ruin our relationship with Israel as well.

Nobody in our msm is talking about it. All our wars in the last two and a half decades were done at the behest of Israel. They are the only foreign entity who controls 98% our Congress. Seems like a pretty important thing to leave out of your post.

You don't see what Trump is doing right now? Thank Russia and the wealthy in general for all of that (and more to come).

Hollywood eroding our rights to privacy (in their efforts to thwart piracy and increase artificial scarcity, see the failed SOPA and PIPA efforts). And last year MPA president Charles Rivkin openly calling on Congress “to enact judicial site-blocking legislation here in the United States,” which would give the MPA the power to block entire websites, everywhere in the U.S., using the same tools as repressive regimes like China and Russia.

I agree. But it's nit going to happen until we get our shit together and move on from Trump and either fix or replace the Democrats.

Interesting. I'd be interested in hearing more about this. Interesting, but not really actionable.
We also need to get money out of politics entirely.
100%, or at least find a way to mitigate it. Which os where we should be focusing the vast majority of our attention.

This seems very possible.

Russia and Hollywood aren't getting Americans and green card holders kidnapped and charged because of free speech. That's happening because of Israel right now. Not to mention billions of tax payer funds.

The Russia scare tactics aren't going to work on me. We are much more of the bad guys than Russia and it ain't even close.

But if you watch msm, I can understand how you wouldn't think that.

It's bad enough that billionaires are controlling our system. Even worse that it's coming outside our own borders and that entity is coming acts of genocide, ethnic cleansing and terrorism repeatedly.

Yes, billionaires are controlling our system. Just like Russia...

It's laughable to bring up Russian in the context of foreign powers controlling U.S. policy. You can go anywhere and criticize Russia. You can't do that with Israel without the legitimate threat of losing your job, not getting a job, getting kicked out of school, and or getting kicked out of the country.

Well, they are both controlling us (anybody with wealth is) and right now I think Russia has a bigger hold on Trump than Israel does. Either way there's not a damn thing we can do until we get rid of Trump and Vance.

Solving our problems the right way will eliminate both Israel and Russia as legitimate threats to US democracy (outside of overt military action, etc). As well as the wealthy. Or will at least give us the power to resist them all.

Those would be important things, but I don't think they are factual. How exactly was Afghanistan at the behest of Israel?
Nor do I agree that Israel 'controls' 98% of congress. They have some influence, but so do lots of groups and nations.
And I think you are ignoring the fact that a large number of Americans have a soft spot in their hearts (or heads) for Israel, and congress does take that into account as well.

Israel has existed for 70-some years now. The issues you object to in this post have existed for less than 2 months. Israel isn't really the source of the problem.

Why don't I let Netanyahu tell it?

It doesn't really matter what you agree with when AIPAC themselves have told us repeatedly. This isn't even the only piece of literature with this statistic that they've released. Even the smallest amount of research could have shown you this.

Israel has the most influence and it's not even close. It isn't about a soft spot. It's about having them register under FARA like every other nation in the world. If they want to lobby, they should have to play by the same rules as any other nation. You disagree? I'd like to hear why.

You didn't do your research and you've come ill-prepared. I've come to expect better from you.

There are many businesses and organizations that donate to both candidates in a race. Even Trump did it. It's my guess that the AIPAC also supported 98% of the losers in those same races, just not as proudly.

Maybe. Maybe not. That isn't as important when they're a foreign power. I know they're responsible for the losses to good progressive likes Cori Bush and Jamal Bowman - both of which were for Palestinian liberation. We can't be good progressives and yet dismiss AIPAC's enormous influence to do really bad things. IE Terrorism on Iraqi/Syrian/Iranian/Yemeni/etc soil.

Why don't I let Netanyahu tell it?

I don't know, but maybe because Netanyahu is corrupt as hell and I'm not likely to believe anything he says, and really, neither should you?

Also, judging from the title, that video is about Iraq, which (I've heard) is a different country than Afghanistan.

It doesn't really matter what you agree with when AIPAC themselves have told us repeatedly.

You are right, it doesn't matter if I agree with what a lobbyist says.

Israel has the most influence and it's not even close.

That's simply ridiculous. How many federal agencies has Israel fed into the woodchipper this week?

It isn't about a soft spot.

Actually, it kind of is, you just don't want to face that fact that there is strong support for Israel among the US voting population.
Weaker than it used to be, given Gaza, but still pretty strong. Politicians tend to do things that bring them voters, as long as those things don't drive away other voters.

It's about having them register under FARA like every other nation in the world. If they want to lobby, they should have to play by the same rules as any other nation. You disagree? I'd like to hear why.

I don't disagree. I don't see how it would make a huge difference in practice, but I'm in favor of everyone playing by the same rules.

Aren't there 541 members of Congress? If they supported 362 members and candidates and 98% of them won that means they only have 354 members in office that they supported.

354 is not 98% of 541. It's closer to 65%... That is a majority but it's definitely not 98%.

I'd be surprised if most billionaire lobbies aren't in the same range... That's how you would get the best return on your investment.

Once again, this isn't a problem specifically with Israel, IMO. This is a problem with our own system giving favored access to capital.

The system encourages corruption. There will be corruption until we fix the system.
