Zombie Umm I think we're better than last year.

This talk about Rondo not having been good - let alone great - is fucking silly. I believe for the two seasons after they broke up "the big 3" he still lead the league in assists, or was a very close second behind Nash. Yet unlike Nash Rondo was great on the defensive end too. That makes him twice as good as Nash ever was! So if Rondo wasn't good, then Nash was terrible.

I'd be tempted to take a completely healthy Bosh over any PF in the league other than Ant Davis.

Great defender, solid rebounder, willing to play C, good passer, great range...

He's getting a little old, so I'll revise and say 2 or 3 years ago he would be my pick.

Houston and Miami, two organizations with some of the better talent evaluators, agree with you.

One rebound gets you in the hall? 10 all stars dont mean nothing, IMO, it's all about context. He's been in the east the entire time it's been putrid. Now, if he was a 10 time all star STARTER (He's started in 4 of them) that'd be something different.

Anyway, again, we'll agree to disagree.

I love you, Eric. Go see Rocky Horror Picture Show with me. <3

Based on a comment this morning, @Taylor Danforth agrees with you, Strenuus. Does that make you rethink your stance? :ghoti:

Perhaps there was a year he was an allstar but didn't play in the actual game because of an injury or such?

That's what it was. He PLAYED in 9 games, but he was named an All-Star 10 times.

I find myself vascilating between believing we will contend for a playoff spot or maybe we flirt with a .500 record all season. Even if we lost Dame for an extended period due to injury, I can't see us as the 2nd worst team in the league, which Mark Stein predicted a few weeks ago. Too much athleticism and depth to end up a 20 something win team.

I like the way we compare our roster to championship rosters like they've played together for years already...we're just getting our feet wet and Stotts has just started coaching this squad..I'd give them until Xmas at least to start evaluating how they'll work as a unit. You can see Plumlee, Aminu, Vonleh and Davis are overthinking the offensive sets but what nobody is ignoring is team defense, which tells me the coaching staff has it's priorities straight
Whats experience got to do with it anyways? I thought it was all about talent.

Everyone is going to underestimate us because we lost 4 starters. We replaced them with more depth though. People will be very surprised.

So your basing your assessment of him off where he was drafted? UGh. Yes. Draft rank is an assessment of the player...at the time of the draft. Michael Jordan was drafted number 2, so does that mean that every player drafted number 2 has the potential of Jordan? Come on man, gimme a break.

The fact is, and your smart enough to know this I would think, is that Nic has all star potential, a unique body and gift set for the game. An acute court awareness. If he had Dames work ethic or Wes's heart, he would be all first team defense and career average 23/8/8. Instead he would disappear, sometimes for weeks at a time. He is a soft player who doesn't know how to play aggressive. That's all I think anyone really wanted to see more of out of him is aggression and heart. Instead he goes to Euro ball and punches players in the nuts.
Nic has yet to come close to reaching his potential, though he may have reached his peak.

Jordan was drafted #3

how did chris bosh come up?

He basically was just saying that pro-bowl and all-star game selections mean nothing, but specifically said, "10 All-star games? Who cares? That means nothing."

Here's a related question that's realistic:

Are we better than last season's team post-Wes injury?

That team went 10-12 to close out the season. That's 37-45 over an 82-game season.

How do you feel about 37.5 being our over/under? Do you take the over on that?

Great question.

I think we are better than that. I'll take the over.

Rocky Horror Picture Show - One of the most entertaining movies I've ever seen.

This was Shooter's (formerly Talkhard) last post, Oct 12, 2015.

Anybody know what happened to him?

He went underground.
