Under Republicans, recessions happen four times as frequently as under Democrats.

Welcome to our community

And if a republican wins this election there will certainly be another recession as soon as the fed starts raising the interest rate. Kickin' the can down the road!

No duh.

Government also get smaller - fact.

And Dems are also better for defect reduction - fact

No duh.

Government also get smaller - fact.

And Dems also create budget surpluses - fact

Dems create bubbles. The Tech Bubble, the housing bubble and the debt crisis.

I guess government controlling the economy does work, until you have to fix it.

Using the starting date of the first recession from the “official list of recessions” linked in the article, there has only been 9 Democratic presidents and 18 Republican Presidents, probably for a very good reason.

I'm going to start just making up "facts".

But the GOP produce the most batshit crazy candidates.

Great entertainment.

I'm a little confused. If you go back 9 Democratic Presidents, (Clevelands second term), you haven't gone back 18 Republicans (that would go back to the first R president, Lincoln).

To go back to the 18th R President, you have to include a 10th Democrat (and if you DO count Cleveland as 2 separate Presidents, it'd be 11. But I don't count it as 2 different Presidents, so I go with 10).

And it includes a R who died barely 6 months into his presidency (Garfield), and another who had died in office (Harding) 2 years into his term.

Now for totals (Im assuming that Obama finishes his 2nd term):

R's have 88 years as President, and the D's have 68.

So 18 presidents for 88 years and 10 Presidents for 68.

So basically, the "good reason" argument shows that the Republicans, on average, barely averaged more than 1 term (4.8) vs over a term and a half average (6.8).

If you discount Harding and Garfield, the averages are better (5.3), and if you discount FDR its a little close but still in the D's favor (6.2)

Of course, you have the issue that what was one R is now more D, and vice versa and that even more makes your point invalid.

You should look up the richest past presidents are. Warren Buffet and Mark Cuban are democrats.

Yeah, but Cuban and Buffett were awesome presidents despite that.

Reading comprehension should be added to the list.

"To ever run" means just that. Not when they were president or after wards. For clarification, I'm not just limiting this to people who won their party nomination.

When Barack ran, he wasn't rich (as he is now).
When Clinton ran, he wasn't rich (as he is now),
Hillary is worth about 22 million (drop in the bucket compared to Donald),
When Al Gore ran for President, he wasn't worth nearly as much as he is now.
Carly Fiorina is worth about 60 million.
Jeb is worth about 22 million.
Bernie Sanders is worth about 600k.

Donald Trump? According to him, worth 10 "billion" but online it's about 4 billion.
Mit Romney was worth 250 million back in 2012.
Steve Forbes (when he ran) was worth a lot, at least 430 million in 96 (and he ran for President).

Bringing up the list of people who were rich when the only people who could be president were rich white land owners is pointless.

Let's try to keep this about people who have run in the last 30 years.

So again, I ask, which party has the richest person running for president?

It doesn’t matter, because every president we have ever had regardless of party, Democratic, Republican, Whig, Federalist, War Union, or Democratic-Republican ran our country using the “Golden Rule”. Whoever has the most gold, makes the rules.

I do agree, but I was posting a response under the context of the meme

REPUBLICANS

A bunch of rich people
Convincincing poor people
To vote for the rich people
By telling the poor people
That the other poor people
Are the reason they're poor
Amen!!!!!

Wouldn't it be nice if we had this?

A rich person
Convince every person
To vote for this rich person
By telling all people
That the DC establishment (Republicans and Democrats)
Are the reason why everyone is fucked

Sorry, I was busy reading the other hyperbole and overlooked this post.

8. Franklin Delano Roosevelt (D)
> Net worth: $60 million
> In office: 1933 to 1945
> 32nd president

Roosevelt's wealth came through inheritance and marriage. He owned the 800-acre Springwood estate, as well as properties in Georgia, Maine and New York. In 1919, his mother had to bail him out of financial difficulty. He spent most of his adult life in public service. Before he was president, Roosevelt was appointed assistant secretary of the Navy by President Wilson.

6. Lyndon Baines Johnson (D)
> Net worth: $98 million
> In office: 1963 to 1969
> 36th president

Johnson's father lost all the family's money when LBJ was a boy. Over time, the 36th president had accumulated 1,500 acres in Blanco County, Tex., which included his home, called the Texas White House. He and his wife owned a radio and television station in Austin, Tex., and they had a variety of other moderate holdings, including livestock and private aircraft.

3. Theodore Roosevelt (D)
> Net worth: $125 million
> In office: 1901 to 1909
> 26th president

Born to a prominent and wealthy family, Roosevelt received a sizable trust fund. He lost most of his money on a ranching venture in the Dakotas and had to work as an author to pay the bills. Roosevelt spent most of his adult years in public service. His 235-acre estate, Sagamore Hill, now sits on some of the most valuable real estate in Long Island.

That's not a fact at all. Government just gets bigger in different areas. See Dubya..

I will admit that I haven't seen the government get smaller on the Republican side. It pisses me off because this has been their promise for decades and nothing

so...who is the rich guy, probably the richest who ever has run for President and which party is he running in?
John Kerry. His wife is a $billionaire.

I forgot about him (more like I'm trying to forget about him). But that doesn't make him the richest person to run for President, compared to Trump.
