I finally got through to someone yesterday, after well over a thousand phone calls. And...because I worked at a school, she said someone has to call me to verify more info about my contract/work agreement, so maybe hopefully they call me next week like she said. I don't feel too confident.

Well I applied for unemployment this weekend. Haven’t heard anything back yet. Hope I am eligible.
My work calendar has been completely wiped clean with all this going on. Usually in my industry if you lose some work, you can reach out and find something else, but with EVERY sport being shutdown, I got nothing. I have friends around the country right now freaking out.
If I get the max each week from unemployment and don’t spend one dime of it, at the least our mortgage will be covered.
Going to be some interesting times.
I have been poor for quite a long time in my 20s.....my wife and kids have not had that humbling experience.
Have already started cutting back. Canceling some services and memberships. Didn’t turn the heat on the last few nights. Trying to teach my family that every cent counts.
This whole experience will change me....... Like I said, I’ve been poor, and swore it would never happen again.
I truly hope nobody is going through the same because of all this. This shit has gotten VERY real, VERY quick.

Crap, I feel sorry for guys like you. My wife and I haven't had to change a single habit regardless of the cost except that we don't eat out in restaurants or go anywhere that there are crowds of people. Had to go to Camp Withycombe because my wife needed her ID card renewed and that's it. Didn't need to renew mine because it's permanent. Everyone wore masks and my wife and I wore gloves. We stayed separated at least 3 feet. No worries about house payments or car payments or untilities or anything, really. But then, we're both retired and in good shape. We both pulled out of the stock market for now. Will get back in when they have a vaccine.
 
I'd like to take a sec to thank @SlyPokerDog . He reached with some ideas on how to get my unemployment through other channels and I'm happy to announce it worked.

Contacted my local representatives .......Senator Dembrow, Representivitve Kenny-Guyer, and NE Portland natives Ron Wyden and Earl Blummenaur. AND IT WORKED!!!!!

Nothing like getting 24 unemployment checks in the mail at one time!!! @SlyPokerDog you dude are a true gentleman. This helps me and my family out more than you could imagine. Not out of the woods, but this is a huge start!

I'm very happy to hear that worked and you got your unemployment!

I know you're working now but you should keep filing your weekly online reports so it keeps your claim active in case your work stops again. That will prevent you from having to start all over again.
 
Not working yet.....not until the 23rd. Worried that when these Blazer games start again, I will be making more than the minimum. Nervous that when these games are over mid August, it's going to take 4 months again for my unemployment to kick back in. I have no work on the horizon after these games whatsoever. Not going to lie and say I didn't work, but freaked out to be honest how this is going to work.

That's why I said for you to keep filing even if you are making more than the minimum. It will keep your claim active so you won't have to wait four months again.

Yes, even though you will make more than the minimum. Keep filing. Report your income. They will tell you that you've earned too much but your claim will remain open and active for when you reach a point when you don't earn over the minimum.
