Sucks HCP. A lot of us will be in this same boat unfortunately. My job is pretty corporate, I can work from home. But when our business slows down (it will), I could go.

What the fuck is wrong with youHCP, I know you're part of the 1%, but I'm still feeling for you. I know some of the other 99%ers in here couldn't care less, but, after all, you're a human with flesh and bones. They're heartless and they know who they are.
The stores around here are literally putting fliers on peoples doors saying please come work here.I hear Costco and Amazon are really hiring right now. If he has a car, maybe door dash/uber eats.
Or he can find a sugar mama from Corona Del Mar.
WTF?
Yeah... Ive seen and heard so many “experts” with so many opinions. A guy at work today asked me what I thought about all this and I know this is going to be offensive to some of you (Im sorry), I told him, “Ive got no idea what the right thing to do is, Im a software engineer, my thoughts are basically it sucks, all of it, the reaction, the economy, all those that will die with or without the virus. Yet, I think if a majority of “health experts”, and people who specialize in this stuff are saying to quarantine, then I guess we should. If there was a massive Software problem that could effect half the electronics of the world and whatever negative effects came from that, Id hope that what the majority of software people said is the way we handle it. Not politicians, not the media, not people who have no idea what they’re talking. Yeah there will be experts who disagree, but I think our best bet is to just do what the majority of experts are telling us.” - Obviously this is paraphrased.Sorry for what your fam is going through.
Still think this is a overreaction. and def not worth shutting down over

Although I slightly agree, this feels like the "hurricane experts" who every year predict the big one, and the big one has happened maybe 2 or 3 times the last 20 years. Its good to be overcautious, but is it worth destroying the economy over 20-30k people?
If part of those 20-30k people were close to us most of us would say yes.Although I slightly agree, this feels like the "hurricane experts" who every year predict the big one, and the big one has happened maybe 2 or 3 times the last 20 years. And actually, if my math is correct, at least 100 million people will get it and that adds up to about 3 million dead. That's not good.If part of those 20-30k people were close to us most of us would say yes.
Good math? No. You have no idea how many people will or would have been infected. You also have no idea what percentage would die.And actually, if my math is correct, at least 100 million people will get it and that adds up to about 3 million dead. That's not good.
Right back at you brotha.Wishing you the best.
Knowing people who died in Hurricane Michael and currently living in the epicenter of where it hit, I will have to strongly disagree with you.Although I slightly agree, this feels like the "hurricane experts" who every year predict the big one, and the big one has happened maybe 2 or 3 times the last 20 years. Life is a bitch and then you die.I’m kind of in limbo, everything is just up in the air right now. I’ve been doing some safety training from home to get some hours last few days, but that’s all I’ve really heard. Our oil and gas clients which are our bread and butter turned into ghosts.
We barely just cracked our 30’s and money was hit and miss all through our 20’s, being young raising a kid and whatnot. So it’s not totally unfamiliar territory for us. Sucks tho, we both just got settled into pretty good jobs in careers we’ve been working hard at. Things were about to be looking really good and the pause button got hit.
It's HCP as in Hispanic Causing Panic.I think HPC gets it...even if you don't. He'll be fine.
@THEHCP: Bro, hope circumstances improve for you and your family.Well I applied for unemployment this weekend. Haven’t heard anything back yet. Hope I am eligible.
My work calendar has been completely wiped clean with all this going on. Usually in my industry if you lose some work, you can reach out and find something else, but with EVERY sport being shutdown, I got nothing. I have friends around the country right now freaking out.
If I get the max each week from unemployment and don’t spend one dime of it, at the least our mortgage will be covered.
Going to be some interesting times.
I have been poor for quite a long time in my 20s.....my wife and kids have not had that humbling experience.
Have already started cutting back. Canceling some services and memberships. Didn’t turn the heat on the last few nights. Trying to teach my family that every cent counts.
This whole experience will change me....... Like I said, I’ve been poor, and swore it would never happen again.
I truly hope nobody is going through the same because of all this. This shit has gotten VERY real, VERY quick.

On Monday, my Construction Official gave me the lay off. Part time inspectors are on the list. Obviously, I couldn't work from home. This is how municipal towns are dealing with the emergency. Obviously, I couldn't inspect houses and business due to possible infection into me and spread from me. Coincidently, our Governor issued the emergency plans for NJ. My fate was sealed. I will get back, but not now. Personally, I feel that there is more to the COVID-19 than what is told to us. There must be another danger or element, authorities do not reveal.
