Event Uninsured Motorist insurance rates and the illegal population?

I asked my agent the other day why the uninsured motorist rates are so damn high now? He said, over 20% of the accidents in Oregon are caused by these guys.

Further inquiry yields some interesting data.
Nearly 10% of Oregon drivers are uninsured.
Around 15% of California drivers are uninsured. That is more drivers than Oregon has people.

The fine for driving uninsured is less in both states than I pay for simple liability and the obligatory uninsured motorist coverage. uh, it sort of makes sense, especially if you can just leave and come back with another name.

No licence, no insurance.

But they can get a car loan, new and used car dealers can sell them a car. Private parties can sell them a car.

So Americans can profit off of illegals but take no responsibility for it.

First offense in Oregon is 100$ - 200$ + penalty assessments of 260$ - 520$.
Second and subsequent offences 200$ - $500 + penalty assessments of 520$ - 1300$
Nevermind what else they will do to you for driving without insurance.

It was sort of a one stop does there for a while in Oregon. When I moved here to Bandon, every thing packed up moved from truck to storage and who knows. My Cal drivers licence in a pair of pants some where. BC in some other box and no house to unpack the stuff in. Need a drivers licenses but how? Well all I needed was and address and a utility bill with my name on it and the address. Rent a house for a month and got a bill from PPL for hooking up the power. Shazam! I was in, Oregon Drivers license, and Registered to vote all in one motion.
I was appalled. Had to renew, last year I think, and geez, needed everything BC, DD214... So it is a little better but damn if I know why the license and the voting are connected.

There are plenty of other places to register. I registered outside a Target store.

Yes, there are plenty of places in Oregon to register to vote, the DMV is one of them.

So you would rather give someone your private information in the parking lot of a Target instead of inside the DMV.

And non-citizens can't use an ID to register to vote in Oregon.
