Same age bracket Brother. I physically worked for what I earned. Making $50 a week in 1970 was the start of a financial dream. Of course, gas was 31 cents per gallon. Credit cards were not used like the pay and forget culture of today. Today's generation expects more for the least they do..

appreciate this. they do say the boomers are the last gen to be able to expect more than the gen before. The booms gen failed us. going forward, the next gens need to expect less, and that’s been made clear true to me. i’m not going to jump to conclusions and blame y’all.

but my viewpoint doesn’t differ much from the current view of boomers on the upcoming gens.

but even then, don’t get me started on anyone 22-36 in the current work force. never seen more entitlement in my life. never seen less drive or ownership in my life.

You must be emotionally distraught on this subject. You used all small letters to express yourself.

I have long known that BlackRock is both highly ethical, moral and an excellent place to invest your money.
We're TIAA people. That is an excellent investment company.

I made $40/week in late 69 and early 70 working at Tektronix. My first raise was a nickel/hour.

Sure, believe in conspiracies and don't believe the facts.

The facts are a company that has an unfair advantage at buying assets via trillions of dollars loaned through the federal reserve, a service you or I don’t have access to and that BlackRock itself doesn’t qualify for in a normal functioning marketplace, artificially driving up prices and helping make the dream of home ownership stay a dream forever.

If you think any of this is moral or ethical, I’ve got a Hunter Biden painting to sell you.

meh. it's my ode to 3rainiac. he used to do it.

besides, I think it's in every generation's dna to bitch about the generations before and after (but for real, the gen behind me has no work ethic and the self-entitlement is unreal).

You don't know what you're talking about. This is the company that won't deal in things like Bitcoin. Why is that? Is it because of the money issue? No, it's because of the huge power drain to run their operations which leads to more carbon based energy production for said operations.

That’s the biggest crock of shit. They want to claim Bitcoin mining computers are ushering in climate change while they fly around in private jets buying entire neighborhoods out from under struggling middle class Americans. Pretty loose morals when compared to a computer using electricity, a supposedly ‘green’ form of energy, to mine Bitcoin. They are just a tool for the federal reserve pretending to act independently, and they view Bitcoin and other cryptos as a threat the the fed’s lucrative debt stranglehold over the American people. They are the scum of the earth and don’t need your sympathy. Shame on anyone using lame excuses to defend them just because they don’t want to ding their stock portfolio.

How about some sort of credible back up to this? I mean a meaningful discussion other than jonnyboy's opinion.

Well, this post is full of shit.
I've heard the president of BlackRock get interviewed for an hour and he's got my vote. On that we must part because we're never going to convince one another.
By the way, BlackRock is endorsed by Merrill Lynch but I'll bet you see a conspiracy in there.
You are leaving this discussion without ever showing me any credible evidence that you are right. Guess what that means.

Is This The Beginning Of A New Labor Movement?

Nabisco Workers Latest to Strike: They Want to "Take, Take, Take".

Jordan speaks with Mike Burlingham, a Nabisco worker who's worked for the company for 14 years in Portland Oregon, about the workers' strike that has now spread to other Nabisco bakeries throughout the country.

A personal anecdote: I’m beginning to see the housing frenzy start to slow in my region. Houses sitting on the market longer, prices going down, less dipshits from out of state wandering around bumping into things. Interested in some other perspectives from far and wide…

Seems similar to that here. Still a long ways from prior normal, but a little less crazy.

Interestingly, not 10 minutes ago I received a “Zillow Estimate/Offer” in the mail offering me a generous (but silly) sum if I want to sell them my home. These are the idiots who are artificially inflating our property values. If there was some way to cut these scum off at the knees, prices would likely return to something near “normal”…….and maybe the housing crisis would ease.

My wife was in that union for years and years.

Ten Years Ago: S&P Downgrade of US Debt [10th Anniversary of Economic Update with Richard Wolff]

This is insane.

My grandpa was the lead mechanic at the plant there on Columbia Blvd. He had a loaded retirement.
My wife worked for Grandma's Cookies shortly after they moved to their new plant in Beaverton. She was a member of that union for about 35 years.
I was in a different union in Seattle known as SPEAA (Society for Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace). We had technical and professional bargaining units.
So, both of us are big boosters of unions. I've heard what life was like before unions from my father and from history books.
My greatest peeve was that Washington state has a law that says we must provide union help in grievances for employees not in our union. Companies also must provide the same benefits that non union members get although they do not have to go on strike. Membership in a union is non mandatory. So, no dues, no strikes yet all the benefits. WTF?

Cheers union brother. I’m a proud Teamster of 15 years. 21 more years to go until I get to bask in my retirement life.
