<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The NBA has decided they will approve the eight-player deal between the Nets and Mavericks as long as Keith Van Horn spends at least a month with New Jersey, multiple league sources said.

Van Horn hasn't played since the 2005-06 season and it doesn't seem like he wants to get back into basketball. So if he doesn't agree to the terms, the deal could be off for good this time.</div>

Great.

Van Horn!!! I want him to play at least one game, it would make my day

I just imagine Van Horn living in a shack in the Colorado Rockies, his hair long and wild, having gained a lot of weight, with a long beard, and a bottle of Jack in one hand. His old friends - Mark Cuban, Rick Majerus, Kerry Kittles, etc. are pleading with him to give it one more shot....

If there is any justice in the world, he'll work himself back into shape via a montage that works perfectly with Survivor's "Eye of the Tiger"

He could teach all of are big men how to hit a jumper...it was his specialty.

$4 million, no way he turns that down.

If he does, he is not only spiteful but an idiot.

The league couldn't actually force him to do that, could they? I mean, there isn't a rule in place about that, is there?

IMO it's prolly BS that a writer made up.

Only a month?

So basically 4M for 1 month?

Sweet.

The man's got money already though. Who knows how secure he is financially at this point. And how much he cares about money.

Hopefully this deal taking extra time does not affect other deals in place.

Then you would be immediately institutionalized.

If suiting up and showing up to watch basketball games from the sidelines for $4million dollars doesnt motivate you, i dont kno what can?!

Jason Kidd has way over 100 mil and he still wants more.

People are money hungry no matter what.

I wonder how this works out. Do they make him come to practice? Do they make him come to team meeting? etc etc etc.

I'm just saying, you can't necessarily assume he's as preoccupied with money as the rest of the world. I mean, he did retire early when he could've stuck it out for a couple more years and easily made a few more million.

Maybe at first to stay face.

How would the league even enforce this? Would they send an official to all the Nets practices and meetings? If they do that for us, they better do the same for the Grizzlies.

They didn't specify how much playing time (if any) he should get right? He could just "suit up" for the Nets and sit on the bench ala Magloire.

Community Service? Sure the league will make him do his share of that though.

That would be fine.

Did the Mavericks forget to update their phone lists?

Why do they keep trading players without knowing if they are willing to be traded?

Agreed, pretty stupid... then again, they don't have much choice, OR much time...

The greatest thing that could ever, ever happen in my wildest dreams is that somehow the new Nets click on all cylinders and come out of the weak East and they catch a break and beat the West in the Finals - preferably Dallas.

KVH would get a ring, Kidd would get nothing, and the good guys would come out on top.

Think it's impossible? I'm a Giants fan. I believe anything is possible.

SIGN AND TRADE ME PLEASE!

I'LL DO IT FOR 4 MILLION!

SIGN PETEY!

Are the Nets cursed? Or does everyone just hate us?

It's not impossible at all. Vince would have to go absolutely nuts, though.
