No, there is no rule that they release damaging information when they dig it up. They sought it for a purpose and used it when they felt it could be spun do the most damage.

Andrew Miller on Friday said that he regrets calling 911 a year ago to accuse Republican Senate candidate Monica Wehby, his ex-girlfriend, of stalking him and harassing his employees.

"It's a personal matter," he said Friday. "It probably wasn't one of my better days in life way back when. I didn't really want to spend a lot of time reflecting on it."

He likened the situation to the adage of not acting when angry.

"They always say, 'Don't send an angry email until after you let it sit for 24 hours,'" Miller said. "I think sometimes we are prone to act in the moment, and later when you think about it, I kind of wish we could do a do-over on that one."

Miller said he remains friends with Wehby.

"I talk to her from time to time," he said. "I have no hard feelings or animosity towards her whatsoever. I voted for her. I wish her well, and I hope she succeeds."
