USA Basketball today announced the rosters for the USA Blue and USA White teams that will square off in the USA Basketball Showcase that will be held Friday, 6 p.m. (PDT) at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas. The USA White Team, led by 2012 Olympic gold medalists Kevin Durant (Oklahoma City Thunder) and James Harden (Houston Rockets), will go against the USA Blue squad led by 2012 Olympic gold medalist Anthony Davis (New Orleans Pelicans), and 2010 World Championship gold medalists Stephen Curry (Golden State Warriors) and Derrick Rose (Chicago Bulls) …

The USA White Team, coach by USA assistant coach and Chicago Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau, includes Bradley Beal (Washington Wizards); DeMarcus Cousins (Sacramento Kings); Andre Drummond (Detroit Pistons); Durant; Harden; Kyrie Irving (Cleveland Cavaliers); Damian Lillard (Portland Trail Blazers); Paul Millsap (Atlanta Hawks); Chandler Parsons (Dallas Mavericks); and Klay Thompson (Golden State Warriors).

The USA Blue Team, which will be led by USA assistant coach and New Orleans Pelicans head coach Monty Williams, includes Curry; Davis; DeMar DeRozan (Toronto Raptors); Kenneth Faried (Denver Nuggets); Paul George (Indiana Pacers); Gordon Hayward (Utah Jazz); Kyle Korver (Atlanta Hawks); Plumlee; Rose; and John Wall (Washington Wizards).

Story about Lillard and Irving from today's Oregonian.

http://www.oregonlive.com/blazers/i...sa_basketball_competition_damian_lillard.html

LAS VEGAS — A few hours before he would face the most important test of his international playing career, Trail Blazers All-Star Damian Lillard decided he needed a workout.

So on Sunday night, the evening before the start of the USA Basketball training camp, he met a friend in the lobby of their Las Vegas hotel and headed over to the Mendenhall Center for a rigorous session of individual drills, shooting and highly competitive games of one-on-one.

Lillard's playing partner that night: Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving.

As they have competed against each other in USA Basketball camps the last two summers — first on the Select Team and now on the National Team — two of the NBA's best and brightest young stars have blossomed from rivals into friends. They play perhaps the deepest position in the NBA and are part of the most intense and spirited competition at this week's training camp.

And when it's all said and done next month, with Derrick Rose developing into a near-lock and Stephen Curry strengthening his chances every day, the final guard spot on the USA's 12-man roster at next month's FIBA World Cup may come down to one of the two burgeoning friends.

It's a fitting situation for a unique relationship.

"We always want to get the best out of each other," Irving said. "Off the court, we're great friends. But on the court, we want to rip each other's hearts out."

Out in Atlantic City working and staying at The Revel hotel. Beautiful place but man!!!!!! Yesterday I checked in and was watching HBO. Just got back to my room and it is now gone from the guide!!!! In the past few hours they lost all their HBO/ESPN channels! Right as The HCP was about to sit down with some hoes and watch the this game!

In the same call that I found this out, they tried to charge me $6 to deliver ice to my room! What the hell! #roadtrippin

Dame won't make it, and he'll be pissed all season.

Fantastic news for us.

On another note, I didn't know Monty was the US Asst. I'm really happy for him.

LOL. They let you bring landscaping tools into the hotel huh?

Irving starting over Lillard. Hope Dame learned a lot at this camp, and uses being cut as motivation to school these guys next year.

Cousins just worked Anthony Davis in the post, but only makes 1 FT.

Anybody want to hook me up with their WatchESPN account info just for tonight? I'm on DIRECTV at home and that doesn't work with it.

OK, Steph Curry and Rose should be the starting back-court. Curry nails a deep 3, then Rose goes end-to-end again for a lay-up after a rebound.

Anthony Davis is going to be a monster (if he isn't already) on the defensive end. Quick hands to go along with his length and good instincts. Could be scary.

WATCH ESPN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!SOMEBODY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lillard is in now. Irving didn't do much, but then Dame misses a lay-up w/out hitting the rim.

If there was a way for me to UNREP all of you right now I would!

Kyrie is basically the next Allen iverson. He isn't a point guard.
