Agree. But they were only subject to the same laws as everyone else in Germany. I have no problem whatsoever with extending asylum to those fleeing genuine religious persecution (which does not mean selling flowers to a lesbian couple).

People have historically come here to escape situations where they were not free or for the level of freedom we've had (and are giving up over time).

Puritans came to freely worship. Too bad we didn't have a wall up then to keep people out!
