Utah trades Maynor and Harpring to OKC for essentially nothing. Salary dump for Utah, OKC basically buys the services of Manynor in the form of paying for Harpring the rest of the season.
http://www.shamsports.com/content/pages/playerProfiles/profileDisplay.jsp?id=616I like to look to Peter Fehse as a yardstick for how hardcore into the NBA you are. By this, I mean that if you know who Peter Fehse is, you are some kind of seriously hardcore NBA fan. Not even fans of the team that drafted him know who he is, because that team (the Sonics) no longer exists. So, here goes.
Peter Fehse is a ginger German with a jewfro, whom the Sonics drafted with the 49th pick back in the 2002 draft. They did this on the assumption that this 18 year old reasonably mobile 7 footer would pan out, and become a rebounder and shotblocker at the NBA level. But he emphatically hasn't. A combination of a lack of skill and endless injuries has pretty much put his career on hold. Fehse has missed time in every season he's ever played in, with multiple foot and leg surgeries behind him, and his career has never gotten going.
Recently, unsigned since September 2007 due to an achilles tendon injury, Fehse finally signed with Braunschweig in January 2009, the same German team that he has tried to play with for about 5 seasons now. (Them and their second team, at least.) But guess what? He hurt himself again in his second game back, once again the Achilles tendon, and his season is over. His career might be, too. This amusing Google Translate tells the full story, although Peter Fehse himself says it best:
"You can look at only with gallows humor take."
That you can, Peter Fehse. That you can.
One has to wonder if they aren't completely sold on Westbrook. He's a fantastic athlete, and pretty good defender, but his propensity for turnovers, his janky jumper, and even a fairly poor ability to finish at the rim (only 52% close to the rim and gets blocked about 20% of the time) while not being a true playmaker might have the Thunder rethinking their long term plans with him manning the show.
thunder kept their cap space for a trade like this, i actually thought they would do better than add maynor though
They will have the cap space again at the end of the year. They are not ready to contend this year, and maybe, they can use that cap-space near the draft to get some kind of an interior/post presence.
Maynor is going to be a damn good point guard. He has a place as a starter in this league for sure. Not sure what Utah is doing on this one, counting on Ronnie Price as your backup?
Outlaw/Blake at least have similar trade value to Harpring.
I hear Mixum sprinting to this thread in 3....2...1...
So, what are they chances OKC "flips" Harpring's expiring, insurance paid contract (perhaps along with pieces) for a big on another cash strapped team?
Damn, Presti really is impressing me.
