Heh, too late. We just booked arriving Black Friday and returning the next Tuesday.

Incredibly, my wife just booked 3 nights for free and 1 night on points (some type of Hilton Honors deal she had sitting around) in a king suite at the Conrad Hotel on W. 54th. Apparently, according to the Hilton booking gal who was born/raised in NYC, this is one of Hilton's exquisite mid-town hotels - right near Central Park, Carnegie Hall, and the like. Plus, she said this is one of the absolute best times of the year to visit as it's the beginning of Christmastime in the Big Apple! My wife also got us tickets to Wicked. I've never been to NYC, let alone a Broadway play. SO excited!!

@Lanny would be proud. :)

I last went around Christmas time, its a special time in the city. The Christmas markets are great, but hopefully all the christmas decor is already up then.

We're definitely doing a horse/buggy ride around Central Park.

We did a pedicab tour, it was totally worth it. I think the horse drawn tours are pretty short, and you don't really go into the park.

I'm pretty sure he's talking about this.

ABM, you should get the triple-pedi. A pedicab ride while being given a pedicure by a pedophile. A NY specialty, not to be missed. Contact Elmo in Times Square for details.

I'll check that. The horse/carriage people have a 55-minute package - including photo stops. We'll see. Not gonna book anything in advance, though. My wife and her sis did it and had a blast. That was summer time. Anyway, she said it's very cool.

There are a lot of shady people out there doing them, I'd read up on how to get the best experience.

Thinking about honeymoon locations. We were thinking of doing a quick Cabo trip as a mini-moon, but honestly, Ive been there and doesn't exicite me too much.

Maybe later next year, was thinking of getting this trip on Costco Travel for Bora Bora

I'm thinking I will get bored after the first day or two in a place like that. I'm a city person. We'll see.

Was considering the maldives, but its like 30 hours to fucking get there.
How about the Bahamas, Hawaii, Japan, Tahiti, Miami, San Francisco, NY city, Washington D.C., Niagara Falls, Yellowstone, the Grand Canyon or Victoria, Vancouver Island, British Columbia Canada (try the Empress Hotel).

How about the Bahamas- Maybe sometime. I was thinking St. Barts too.
Hawaii- Just came from there
Japan- Gonna do this in the future. Not for a honeymoon.
Tahiti- Would like this.
Miami- Miami is pretty ghetto. Was thinking of doing the Keys for a trip, I went 3 years ago.
San Francisco- Trash
NY city- Trash / Dangerous
Washington D.C.- Nah
Niagara Falls- Been there, boring
Yellowstone- She grew up partially in Wyoming.
the Grand Canyon- Was gonna do Sedona one of these days.
Victoria, Vancouver Island, British Columbia Canada (try the Empress Hotel)- Its pretty easy to do this, in the future.

The first rule of vacation club is, never tell anyone where you want to travel or pretty soon it'll become a place you don't want to travel to. I have several spots not on the tourist trail that so far have remained off the tourist trail....There's no urban sprawl destination I'd waste time vacationing to....especially NYC.....vacation for me is shutting off the noise and chaos rather than diving into it in a city somewhere....I rarely go to Portland as it is....for the same reason...I like a quiet secluded river to fish and enjoy the meditation of it.

Oregon, Washington and Idaho are full of those kind of rivers.
When I was a boy our family and my cousin's family would go to Breitenbush where we would scatter along the river and see another person only rarely and all we could hear all day long was the babbling of the river. It got to where I could hear that river babble even when we got home from the trip. Breitenbush and Detroit's reservoir had very little people and lots of fish.
I just heard the other day that if you wanted to experience tremendous fishing with some whoppers, try Timothy lake.

maldives, bro!

they’ve had some solid deals recently

I think if it were part of a larger trip, then maybe (like going to Singapore or Dubai or some shit), but by itself, the 30 hour flight may not be worth it.

Going back to Hawaii on Tuesday.

I can taste the mai tais now.
Mai tais are not too good. If you want a great tropical drink go for either the hurricane or the Singapore Sling. I've tried to find those in either a hollowed out coconut or more preferably, a hollowed out pineapple with a paper umbrella on top and swizzle stick that glows under a black light.
When my wife and I were first dating we shared a drink called a volcano which was a hollowed out coconut with some sort of tropical drink mixed with dry ice.

I've a few little trips planned for the summer but am really looking forward to a High Sierra backpacking trip in July with some old friends. We're doing the Evolution Valley loop, South Lake to North Lake, out of Bishop with a couple small side trips to hit a hot spring and bagging a peak or two. 60-65 miles or so over 5 days, it's going to be glorious. The week prior my one friend who lives in Bishop will be stashing beers in the stream where we'll be spending the last night. We're not telling the others about this, but will just wander back into camp with a couple cold ones in hand and see how long it takes before the shouting starts.

I haven't been everywhere, by a long shot, but I have been everywhere you mentioned, except Niagara Falls.
Well, I have been to Niagara Falls, but only the one in Oregon, not the famous one.

Heads up, today is SW Airlines 50th anniversary so they're having a 50% sale.
