Has anyone been to Tahiti? Alaska just partnered up with Air Tahiti and they have some pretty good deals up for next May, and June is coming out daily. I might even be able to score business class with my miles on a good deal. It's a dream spot for my wife so I am strongly considering it.

If we did it, I was thinking like 4 days in Bora Bora and then another 4 on another island. Seems pretty spendy even with the free tickets tho.

For anyone else interested there are also great airmile deals, including business class deals for Japan and London for next spring.

I've been to Tahiti, but it was 30 years ago. I loved it. Spent most of the time on the sister island of Moorea.

Same here, except that it was 40 years ago for me.

I haven't been but I recently visited the spot where Captain Cook fatally pissed off the natives.......
Just finished Blue Latitudes. Good read.
He pissed them off alright! I think at that point Cook was losing his mind and thought he was invincible, especially after they treated him like a god.

Ok did it. Booked two weeks in Tahiti for the end of next May/early June. Got business class flights out of Seattle with the Alaska's mileage rewards programs new partner, Air Tahiti. The good flights and deals get snapped up as soon as they are available, which is why we booked so far out. We've never done business class on a long flight, been saving those miles for just such an opportunity. There are tons of premium economy class still tho.

Now I just got to figure out what to do. The island hopping sounds fun and easy. Probably somewhere between 3 and 5 islands. Bora Bora obviously but everything else is open. Moorea will probably be on the list also but not sure.

We are also thinking about making a whole big thing of it and officially getting married before the trip and make that the honeymoon. We've been together 15 years and I call her my wife, but we haven't got around to officially doing it. The marriage itself will be as small and cheap as possible. Vegas or city hall type thing

How many miles did you have to use? I've often thought about going back. I think you should plan on going to Moorea if you can. It is very cool. I rented a Jeep and you could drive around the island in about 45-60 minutes if I remember correctly.

30k miles for economy, 45k miles for Premium, 60k miles for business. All one way. That's pretty much their standard for most major long haul routes.

We will probably hit up Moorea, it's conveniently located and cheap enough to help stretch the budget. So far I am thinking 2 nights in Papeete downtown, then maybe catch the ferry to Moorea for 5 or 6 days before catching a flight to Bora Bora. That all would probably leave enough time for one more island.

Canada implementing random covid testing on vaccinated travelers again coming by air. Unfortunately it starts before I get in on Thursday night.

Request asylum. They can't test you if you claim you are being politically prosecuted for not wanting the vaccine in the USA.

Also never take legal advice from a dog.

Decided to extend our trip our Seattle trip a couple days and take a ferry out to Victoria for a night. Still haven't decided on the exact proposal spot yet. Too many options and am still waiting on the damn ring to get here.

Butchart Gardens?

With my daughter headed to Tucson for college we are looking at flight options. What is the best place to get the lowest fairs? We had several trips bought through Allegiant since they flew from Redmond to Phoenix Mesa, but they just suspended all flights out of Redmond so trying to figure out our best options. We can drive and fly from Portland or Eugene if need be.

You can look up who flys where by looking at an airports wiki page. Go to the airlines and destination tabs. You can also use flights in Google to get a general idea, but it doesn't cover all the airlines. It's usually best to book directly with the airline, that makes changes easier and you are not paying a middle man. If it's a route and airline you plan to use a lot then your best bet might be to get their credit card for miles to maximize benefits.

Well, got randomly selected. Have to figure out how to get this done. Need to go to some pharmacy

Canada is great. So clean. People are so nice.

Did go to Chinatown to get some pastries that we used to go when i was a kid. Holy shit they just dump all the problems there and the rest of the city is just great. East Vancouver is a fucking mess. Rest of city is better than anywhere else I've been.

I did accidentally leave my "US Wallet" and my wife's car keys in the hotel safe. They called me when I was at the airport letting me know they found it. D'oh
